The loss has occurred of Jay Kanter, a famed film producer who was also a former Hollywood agent to celebrities such as Marlon Brando and Marilyn Monroe.

According to TMZ, Jay passed away on Tuesday at his home in Beverly Hills, surrounded by his family. This information was verified by his son, Adam Kanter.

According to what we have been informed, Jay passed away peacefully due to natural causes.

After the end of World War II, Kanter was able to get a position with a prominent Hollywood agency, where he was guided by the late movie mogul Lew Wasserman and worked his way up the corporate ladder.

It was only after Jay was 22 years old that he was able to persuade Brando to sign with him. Marlon continued to be Jay’s client throughout his whole career, and the two have been friends for their entire lives.

Gene Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, Warren Beatty, Grace Kelly, Ronald Reagan, and Gene Kelly were some of the other celebrities whom Jay represented.

In the end, Jay transitioned into a career as a film producer, and he worked on major motion movies such as “Alien,” “Blade Runner,” and “Thelma and Louise,” in addition to films in the “Star Wars” and “Police Academy” series.

Mel Brooks was another of Jay’s longstanding pals, and the two of them collaborated together on a number of films, including “Spaceballs,” “Silent Movie,” “Young Frankenstein,” “Life Stinks,” and “High Anxiety.”
