It is not necessary for Veronica Fraley, who throws the discus, to be concerned about the payment of rent for the remainder of the year.
There are many reasons for Veronica Fraley to rejoice. After the Olympic athlete, who is 24 years old, disclosed that she was unable to pay her rent, Flavor Flav and Alexis Ohanian collaborated in order to provide assistance to one another.
“I compete in the Olympic Games TOMORROW and can’t even pay my rent,” Fraley tweeted on Thursday. “I am in a state of financial struggle.” “My school only sent about 75% of my rent while they pay football players (who haven’t won anything) enough to buy new cars and houses.”
It is true that Fraley, who is a discus thrower, will be competing in the Olympic Games in Paris on August 2, 2024 to participate. Fraley will be competing in his first Olympics — the Paris Games. Prior to that, the individual who graduated from both Clemson University and Vanderbilt University and is presently enrolled in the latter institution’s Master of Education program in Human Development and Family Studies had previously participated in two global championships.
In a subsequent tweet, Fraley said, “Thanks for the supportive messages, but I want to clarify that my irritation is not with the school itself. Rather, it is primarily with the rules that prevent me from making the amount that I am WORTH as a collegiate athlete, such as NIL, which prioritizes popularity over performance.” That’s all I have to say about it. I wish you the best of luck tonight!
Despite this, Ohanian wanted to do more than just wish Fraley the best of luck. “C’mon now!” was the response that the co-founder of Reddit sent in response to Fraley’s tweet. Together with @flavorfav, I’ll divide it up.
Flav was on board with that idea, and he responded by saying, “I gotchu,,, DM me and I’ll send payment TODAY so you don’t have to worry about it TOMORROW,,, and I’m going to be rooting for you tomorrow LETZ GO,!!!”
The fact that both guys shared screenshots after sending Fraley her rent money is evidence that they followed through with their commitments.
“THANK YOU & @FlavorFlav SO MUCH,” Fraley replied in response to Ohanian’s tweet to express his gratitude. “This makes every difference in the WORLD & I hope to represent team USA well this week.”
This is the power of community, Flav wrote on X once again, “My girl @vmfraley had 7000 people see her tweet, but only 41 people ‘liked’ it, only 5 people commented on it, and only 1 person tagged me and @alexisohanian.” Flav was obviously affected by the thanks, and he went to X once more to express his thankfulness. Now that tweet has been read by ten million people, her rent has been paid off for the whole year, and people have helped her get back on her feet!
Flav has shown his support for a number of athletes competing in this year’s Olympics (not only Fraley). The GoFundMe sites that were established by a number of players, including Fraley, were pushed by Flav, who is now here at the Games in his capacity as the official hype guy for the American women’s water polo team.
“This is what I been saying and promoting with water polo,,, I can’t fix everything on my own,,, but right now I am,” he said via Twitter.
During an interview with ET, Flav expressed his excitement about the Olympic Games by saying, “Words right now can’t even explain how amazing it is.” My life right now is like a dream that has come true. For as long as I can remember, I have fantasized of attending the Olympics, watching them, and experiencing them myself. At this very moment, God has bestowed upon me the privilege of being able to be here and bear witness to it.
