Before he passed away at an unfortunate age, Bob Newhart had already identified Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as his leading candidate to portray him in a biopic.
Conan O’Brien, the host of Conan, made a statement on the late comedian’s illustrious Hollywood career during a visit on Conan in January 2021. He also inquired about the actor that Newhart would want to portray in a film about his life.
Newhart made a witty remark, “I believe The Rock.” It’s not uncommon for people to miss him. Whenever someone says, “Hey, Dwayne!” I will respond by saying, “No, I’m not Dwayne!” When it comes to it, however, there ought to be quite a struggle.
Following O’Brien’s joking that The Rock would do an excellent job representing his “early football career,” Newhart laughed and pondered, “Brad Pitt is supposed to be very interested in this.”
In a press announcement that was acquired by People on Thursday, July 18, Newhart’s publicist Jerry Digney said that the actor had passed away at his home in Los Angeles after a series of brief illnesses. He was 94 years old.
In November of 2020, the actor expressed his thoughts on his great career and the enduring influence he has had on the world. He said, “I have a theory that when it’s all over… and you go up — [if] I’ve been led to believe to heaven — and there’s a God and he says, ‘What did you do?'” When I remark, “I made people laugh,” he will respond by saying, “Yeah, get in that real short line over there.” That is what I say.
“Comedy has turned my life into a beautiful experience. “I just remember the sound of laughter when I first started out in stand-up comedy,” he reportedly stated, according to his obituary to the newspaper. “It is without a doubt one of the most magnificent sounds in the entire world.”
In April of 2023, his wife Ginnie, whom he had married in 1963, passed away. His passing occurs after her passing. During that time period, Newhart’s spokesperson confirmed to People that she had passed away “after a much longer illness.”
They are survived by their four children, Robert and Timothy, as well as their daughters Jennifer and Courtney, and ten grandkids. Newhart is also survived by their grandchildren.
