It is likely that you are familiar with Aubreigh Wyatt if you have come across the hashtag #LLAW on any of your social media feeds. On September 4, 2023, the little girl from Ocean Springs, Mississippi, who was 13 years old, took her own life and passing. Since then, her tale has been told all over the world.

In the aftermath of her daughter’s passing, Heather Wyatt, Aubreigh’s mother, started to feel more comfortable speaking up about her loss and sharing her daughter’s story on various social media platforms, particularly TikTok. In addition to the widespread dissemination of Aubreigh’s name and photographs, the hashtag #LLAW (Live Like Aubreigh Wyatt) also began to enjoy widespread popularity.

Heather allegedly said in the past that her daughter’s murder was the result of persistent bullying. She stated that at least four girls tormented Aubreigh, who was in the eighth grade at the time of her loss. Newsweek reported that Heather made this allegation. Heather has also advocated for individuals to be held responsible for their actions.

In spite of the fact that Heather never disclosed the identity of the four girls in public, internet sleuths were able to determine the identities of the girls who Heather claimed were responsible for bullying her daughter, and their names were widely broadcast. In addition, internet users have provided purported messages that were sent between Heather and Aubreigh, which detailed the alleged bullying.

According to a story from The Washington Post, the parents of the four teenagers pursued legal action against Heather, alleging that she had committed acts of slander and defamation. With the filing on July 2, a court also issued a ruling that Heather is required to delete all of her accounts on various social networking platforms, as reported by the publication. The decision was met with widespread uproar on social media, with many people claiming that it violated Heather’s right to freedom of expression. Many people, including other well-known TikTokers, have shown their support for Heather by posting words of encouragement.

Ophelia Nichols, who is also known as Mama Tot on TikTok, has sent a message of support for Heather, which has had more than 11 million views as of this moment. Nichols wrote in the TikTok, “Since Aubreigh’s mother is unable to speak for her, (the court ordered) I suppose we will.” Nichols continued by saying, “When their voice is silenced, use yours.”
A portion of the complaint that was filed against Heather reads as follows: “As a direct and proximate cause of the false, defamatory, and slanderous social media posts of the defendant, Heather Wyatt, the plaintiffs’ minor children have been receiving insulting and revolting messages from all over the world attacking them, calling them vulgar names, and sexualizing them.” This is according to Newsweek. The eighth grade was when these young girls were in school!

On the other hand, the parents decided to withdraw the complaint on July 16th, as stated in a document that was distributed by Vicksburg News and examined by Peers. It is stated in the filing that the lawsuit was “dismissed without prejudice,” which indicates that the parents have the ability to submit it again in the future if they so desire.

In this particular situation, it is not apparent if the court will remove the social media ban that has been placed on Heather.

The social media accounts of Heather, which had received millions of views and shares from people all around the globe, were still not available online as of the time of this publication.

For the purpose of assisting with legal bills, the Wyatt family has established a GoFundMe account. While participating in the fundraising event, Heather referred to her daughter as “vibrant, kind, and exceptionally bright.”

“As we strive for justice and accountability, we have encountered a significant financial obstacle,” according to the fundraising document. At the moment, it has amassed more than 110 thousand dollars.

In her obituary, Aubreigh is described as having a passion for gymnastics, the ocean, her friends, riding four-wheelers, and creating TikTok videos. She is survived by her mother, her sister, her brother, and her grandpa. Aubreigh is also survived by her grandmother.

In recent times, Heather has made use of her position to fight for individuals to get mental health treatment. Heather advised people to make contributions to “local therapists and counselors” and to “check in with local crisis centers to see if there’s anyone that needs help” in an update that was posted on the GoFundMe page on July 11.

The following statement was sent to PEOPLE by Trey Brennan, who now serves as the spokesperson for the Ocean Springs School District.

As the Wyatt family continues to grieve the loss of Aubreigh Wyatt, the Ocean Springs School District continues to offer its most sincere sympathies to them. In the event that a member of our school community suffers a loss, we make available resources, including counseling services, via both the district and external channels in order to aid in navigating the mourning process. In addition, we work together with our employees to identify and implement any required modifications to their workload and schedule in order to guarantee that their requirements are satisfied during times of loss.

The OSSD is unable to address particular student problems; nonetheless, the district adheres to stringent processes in responding to any and all accusations of improper conduct, harassment, or bullying. Administrators undertake exhaustive investigations, and if the evidence substantiates the charges, suitable repercussions are imposed in line with the regulations of the district. At every stage of this process, both the kids and their parents are brought up to date on the latest developments, and documentation of our methods is retained for the purpose of keeping records. Parents and students alike have the ability to anonymously report instances of bullying either online or in person.
Despite the fact that false information is being disseminated on social media, our administration have been and will continue to be devoted to handling any issues that have been reported with honesty and attention to the health and safety of our enrolled kids. The OSSD strongly encourages both students and parents to report any instances of bullying or harassment immediately to the administration of the school. This may be done by making an online bullying report or by calling the school where their kid is enrolled.

OSSD is unwavering in its dedication to providing a safe and conducive learning environment and catering to the requirements of each and every one of our staff members and students. This is accomplished by a large number of educators who are committed to their work and by forming strong ties with organizations and community partners.
