Usha Vance has decided to resign from her position as a result of the news that her husband, J.D. Vance, has been selected as the candidate for vice president by the Republican Party.

Following her resignation from her position as a corporate litigator at the law firm Munger, Tolles & Olson in San Francisco, the wife of the United States senator from Ohio has resigned from her position.

Usha has revealed to us that she has made the decision to quit the company. A spokesman for Munger, Tolles & Olson issued a statement to PEOPLE in which they expressed their gratitude to Usha for her years of service and wished her the best of luck in her future professional endeavors. “Usha has been an outstanding lawyer and colleague,” the statement said.

According to SFGATE, Usha’s online bio on the company’s website vanished on Monday, July 15, just minutes after former President Donald Trump announced that her husband would be his vice presidential candidate in the 2024 election. This development occurred just minutes after Trump made the announcement.

Before it was removed, PEOPLE reviewed her bio, which stated that she had clerked for several Supreme Court Justices (including John Roberts and Brett Kavanaugh) and that her current practice focused “on complex civil litigation and appeals in a wide variety of sectors, including higher education, local government, entertainment, and technology, including semiconductors.”

“In light of today’s news, I have resigned from my position at Munger, Tolles & Olson in order to focus on caring for our family,” Usha, who has been married to J.D., who is 39 years old, said according to a statement that was published in People magazine. I will be eternally grateful to Munger for the opportunity it has provided me with, as well as for the wonderful coworkers and friends I have had the pleasure of working with over the years.

I am eternally thankful for the opportunities that have been presented to me at Munger, as well as for the wonderful coworkers and friends that I have had the privilege of working with over the years,” she said.

In 2013, Usha and J.D. reportedly met at Yale Law School, where they created a discussion group on the subject of “social decline in white America.” This information was reported by The New York Times.

Their wedding took place a year after they graduated from the university, and since then, the couple has been blessed with three children: a girl named Mirabel, who is six years old, a boy named Evan, who is six years old, and a son named Vivek, who is four years old.

During an interview with Fox & Friends carried out in June, Usha discussed the possibility of J.D. being appointed to the position of vice president.

Usha said, “I don’t know that anyone is ever ready for that kind of scrutiny.” This was in response to the question of whether or not she was prepared for the “scrutiny” that that may come with becoming the second lady of the United States. I mean, I believe that we found the very first campaign that we started to be a surprise because it was so unlike to anything that we had ever done in the past. But it was an exciting experience.”

She went on to explain, “I’m not ready to change anything about our lives right now, but I believe in J.D., and I really love him, and so we’ll just sort of see what happens with our life.” She continued by saying, “I’m not ready to change anything about our lives right now.” We are open for business.”

When asked what she would do if she were to become the second woman, the mother of three chuckled and said, “I think we might be getting a little ahead of ourselves there.” She was referring to the fact that she would be the second lady.

“We’re really just focused on right now, being a family and supporting J.D in his current role,” she said at the time of the interview.
