Brother Marquis, who had been a member of 2 Live Crew for a very long time, has passed away, according to media reports.
According to the official social media accounts of the group, the rapper passed away on Monday. The accounts also said that he “went to the upper room.” This was verified to us by the manager of 2LC, but he did not have any other information on the cause or method of his passing.
Nevertheless, TMZ has been informed by sources with firsthand information that the loss seems to be natural, and there is no suspicion of any kind of illicit activity.
In spite of the fact that Marquis, whose birth name was Mark Ross, was not one of the original members of the legendary rap group, he was surely instrumental in establishing it as the juggernaut act that it became throughout the 1980s and 1990s of hip hop. In 1986, he joined the ranks of DJ Mr. Mixx, Fresh Kid Ice, and Luke Skyywalker.

“Throw the D” and other filthy songs that were placing them on the map were already making waves by the time Marquis joined 2LC. He just strengthened it with humorous tongue-in-cheek lyrics that were full of double entendres. Marquis joined 2LC at a time when they were already making waves.
He ended up making an appearance on their album titled “The 2 Live Crew Is What We Are,” and he went on to be included as a rapper on additional albums that they released, such as “Move Somethin’,” “As Nasty As They Wanna Be,” “Banned in the United States of America,” and “As Nasty as They Wanna Be Part II.”
Marquis went on to find greater success in the music industry on his own, creating the group 2 Nasty, and he also went on to be featured on a ton of recordings, including for MCs like Ice-T and others. By the early 1990s, the majority of the Crew had disbanded, but Marquis went on to find more success in the music industry.
After some time, he got back together with some of the other members of the 2 Live Crew in order to produce further music. In addition, he released some solo material.
