This is William Kyle Carpenter. It is possible that you are familiar with his name, but it is impossible to deny the fact that he is a recognized hero in the United States of America.
For his service in the United States Marine Corps, Kyle was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal when he was 21 years old. He was sent to the conflict zone in Afghanistan in the year 2010.
The location where Kyle and another Marine were engaged in combat was close to where a grenade fell during the shootout. Without giving it a second thought, Kyle flung himself into action…
Although it was a split-second choice that spoke eloquently about Kyle’s unstoppable power, it would eventually impact his life in a way that his life would never be the same again. In an effort to rescue his buddy, Kyle leaped on the grenade and used his body as a shield to protect himself.
Therefore, it is not surprising that he sustained severe injuries as a consequence of the explosion that followed. The bones in his head and face were broken, and his body was covered with shrapnel. His face and skull were also broken. In addition to this, Kyle suffered the loss of a portion of his jaw, the collapse of one of his lungs, and the news that he had passed away upon his return to Camp Bastion was classified as “patient expired on arrival.”
Kyle was compelled to go through forty various surgical procedures over the course of the subsequent two years. He was honored with the Purple Heart for his valor, and President Barack Obama also presented him with the renowned Medal of Honor. Both of these honors were conferred upon him by the President of the United States.
At the present time, Kyle has retired from his military career and is now pursuing a degree from the University of South Carolina.
