The first millennial saint is going to be a young person who passed away when they were just 15 years old.
According to Vatican News, Pope Francis met with Marcello Semeraro, the Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, on Thursday, May 23, and ascribed a second miracle to the late Carlo Acutis. This meeting took place on Thursday.
On May 3, 1991, Acutis was born in London, England. He passed away on October 12, 2006, in Monza, Italy, from leukemia. An individual who has been referred to as “God’s influencer”
It is presently on show in an open tomb in Assisi, Italy, where the youngster is dressed in his favorite clothing, which consists of blue jeans and black Nike shoes. His corpse is currently on exhibit.
It was claimed by the BBC that if Acutis is canonized, he would become the first person born between the early 1980s and the late 1990s to earn sainthood. However, the BBC also said that it is not yet clear when this may occur.
As in the year 2020, Pope Francis has already beatified Acutis. The Catholic Church acknowledges that a passed person has entered heaven and that they have the ability to pray for those who pray in their name. This procedure is carried out in order to acknowledge the deceased person’s ability to pray for others.
According to the online Catholic news site Aleteia, the deceased adolescent, who was a web designer and chronicled Eucharistic marvels, was credited with performing his first miracle when he healed a little Brazilian kid who was suffering from annular pancreas, a rare congenital condition.
The second miracle is said to have occurred on July 2, 2022, in Florence, Italy, when a mother called Liliana from Costa Rica was able to save her daughter Valeria from suffering serious head trauma and several other injuries when she fell from her bicycle. Valeria was a student at the university at the time.
Before Liliana’s secretary began praying to Acutis, the website reported that the doctors had told her that she had a minimal chance of surviving. By the time Liliana arrived to the grave of Acutis in Assisi on July 8 of that year, her daughter had already begun to “breathe spontaneously.”
Following the partial recovery of her speech and the commencement of her movement, a scan was performed on July 18 to determine whether or not her hemorrhage had become absent. By September 2nd, Valeria was able to accompany her mother on the journey to Acutis’ grave in order to express her gratitude to him.
As stated by Courtney Mares, author of the book Blessed Carlo Acutis: A Saint in Sneakers, which will be published in 2023, “Many Catholics around the world are overjoyed at the news that Carlo Acutis will be declared a saint,” according to Fox News Digital.
Carlo is going to be the first saint to be born in the millennial generation in the Catholic Church. According to Mares, who was quoted by the publication, “the Italian teen who is proficient in computer programming is cherished by many people for his joyful witness to holiness in our digital age.”
Within the Sanctuary of Spoliation in Assisi is where the grave of Acutis may be found. In accordance with the website of the Church of the Little Flower Parish, the rector said that “for the very first time in the history of the world, we will see a saint dressed in jeans, sneakers, and a sweater.” This is a wonderful message for us, and it enables us to experience holiness not as something that is far away, but rather as something that is very much within the grasp of everyone, since the Lord is the Lord of everyone.
Carlo is a youngster of our time, according to Archbishop Domenico Sorrentino of Assisi, who was quoted in the source that Acutis connected to via his own website. The epitome of holiness in the digital era, a young man who embodies the spirit of the internet.
