It is not something that Sophie Turner wants to be seen as an accessory to anybody else.

In a recent cover story interview with British Vogue, the actress and mother of two, who is 28 years old, discussed the beginnings of her marriage to Joe Jonas, who is now divorced from her, as well as her feelings of frustration with the general public’s impression of her and the other wives of the Jonas Brothers.

In 2016, the couple had their first date at a bar located in the Camden neighborhood of London. “Joe had just DM-ed me on Instagram,” Turner remembered to the information site. “I brought my brother and all my guy friends because I didn’t know if I was maybe getting catfished.”

Fortunately, Jonas did not attempt to “catfish” Turner. Their relationship progressed fairly rapidly, as shown by the fact that the 34-year-old performer of “Cake by the Ocean” proposed to her about one year after they had first met. After a hasty wedding at the renowned A Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas in 2019, they went on to have a second ceremony at Le Chateau de Tourreau in Sarrians, France, in the same year. Both ceremonies took place in the same year.

“It was really surreal, like a fever dream,” the actress from Game of Thrones remarked on her marriage to Jonas Bolton and her decision to make Los Angeles her permanent home. “Because he was older than me, I just felt like I was really taken care of, to the point I came back home and didn’t know how to do anything for myself.”

According to what she said with British Vogue, Turner was not a huge admirer of living in Los Angeles. Despite the fact that the Jonas family embraced her with open arms, she started to realize how many people saw her with her husband.

She said, “There was a lot of attention on the three brothers, and the wives,” referring to the wives of Nick and Kevin Jonas, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Danielle Jonas, respectively. “Well, we were always called the wives, and I hated that.”

Turner continued by saying, “It was kind of like this plus-one feeling.” “And that’s nothing to do with him – in no way did he make me feel that – it was just that the perception of us was as the groupies in the band.”

The next year, she went to Miami (where she “didn’t have any friends,” according to British Vogue), and three years later, in 2022, she gave birth to their second child, a girl named Delphine. In 2020, she and Jonas had their first child, a daughter named Willa. In the year 2023, he had submitted his petition for divorce.

“After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to end our marriage amicably,” said a statement that was made by the former spouses in September of 2023 after their divorce. “There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
