There will be a reunion between Tiffany Haddish and a teacher who was a significant figure in her life.

During the episode of The View that aired on Tuesday, May 7, in honor of Teacher Appreciation Day, the Girls Trip actress, who is 44 years old, expressed her gratitude to Mrs. Grieb, the theater teacher who instructed her in reading while she was in high school.

Haddish remembered that Grieb “discovered that I was unable to read” while he was in the ninth grade at El Camino Real High School in Southern California. She was able to find out that I was not very good at concealing, disguising, and pretending, and she learned that I was extremely excellent at all of those things.

“The instructor would have me come to her class during lunch, during that fifteen-minute break, and she would give me magazines and newspapers, and she would sit with me to read,” the student said. From the beginning of the semester till the conclusion of it, I was reading!
A tearful Haddish was taken aback when the presenter, Sara Haines, made the announcement that Grieb would be joining them on the program. “It sounds like a reunion is a little overdue,” Haines joked before completing the announcement.

It had been 25 years since Haddish had last seen her instructor in person, despite the fact that she had maintained contact with her via various social media platforms and the telephone. “I want to express my gratitude to Grieb for being so patient with me,” the Afterparty star stated with tears in her eyes when she was asked what she wanted to do. “I want to express my gratitude for your consistent support and encouragement, as well as for spending time with me and listening to what I have to say.”

While she was wiping away tears, Haddish said, “During that time I was really struggling a lot, and you were the most consistent, constant thing in my world next to my grandma.” She was referring to the challenging upbringing she had experienced. You are really wonderful, and I am so happy that we were able to meet. I am quite grateful to you for being so nice.
The next thing that happened was that Alyssa Farah Griffin gave Grieb a limited-edition copy of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which was the play that Haddish had won in a high school theater competition. “I am grateful,” Grieb said in response. This is a fantastic play, and she did an excellent job in it.

“I am still able to recall it. Want me to carry it out right now? Haddish made a joke.

It is impossible to predict the impact that you will have on a pupil, as Whoopi Goldberg is quoted as saying. Please accept my gratitude for all you do, if you are a teacher and you are sitting out there.
I Curse You with Joy is the title of Haddish’s new book, which will be released on May 7 from Diversion Books. In it, the actress discusses the highs and lows of her professional and personal life, including her mother’s problems with mental illness, which compelled Haddish to become the primary caregiver for her family before she was placed in the foster care system.

“I wanted this book to be about something,” Haddish said in an interview with PEOPLE about the sequel to her novel The Last Black Unicorn, which was #1 on the New York Times bestseller list in 2017. My gut told me that I needed to experience a little bit more of life in order to have a better comprehension of where I am at the moment.

The film Bad Boys: Ride or D.i.e, which stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, is one of the future cinematic projects that Haddish is working on.
