Now that he has a family of his own, Ryan Gosling is avoiding performing roles that include a lot of heavy material. The reason for this is straightforward: he does not want to be a burden to his family.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, the actor discussed this topic and said that he is just avoiding certain jobs that he considers to be too dark or mentally screwy. He explains that he is doing this because he believes that accepting work of this kind would eventually have an effect on his family, namely on Eva Mendes and their children.

According to RG, he takes into consideration the kinds of roles and films that will be enjoyable for the whole family, and he will engage in activities that he believes will serve to strengthen his relationship with his spouse and their two children.

“It was just sort of like, ‘Oh, this will be fun for them, too, because even though they’re not coming to set, we’re practicing piano every day or we’re dancing or we’re singing,'” Ryan continues, noting that this began when he began working on “La La Land.” Ryan goes on to claim that this was the beginning of this.

It goes without saying that the same kind of thought was used to his position in “Barbie,” which he described as being something that his children were all about and which brought them closer together.

To put it another way, if you get the impression that Ryan has been working on more mainstream or popcorn films as of late, as opposed to his more gritty independent films, then you are absolutely correct; this is doing everything on purpose. It has come to light that the blockbuster films are a bit simpler to digest, and this helps him maintain his fluidity of movement.

Fans of his from more serious films would be dismayed to hear this, since, to tell you the truth, he is a darn wonderful actor when he has something substantial to chew on. However, it is unfortunate that this has brought about this situation.
