After years of being a revered figure to children all over the world who were born in the 1990s, Steve Burns, a former employee of Nickelodeon, has now broken his silence on the fresh bombshells that are allegedly behind the network’s poisonous history.

In the new documentary series Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, which is being produced by Investigation Discovery, the former Blue’s Clues celebrity said that she had learned about the unfortunate mistreatment that young performers on the network claimed they had been subjected to.

From 1996 to 2002, Burns was the star of the children’s program Nick Jr., in which he played the role of Steve. Nick Jr. was a morning block on Nickelodeon that was geared at preschoolers and toddlers. Burns observed that the programming between the two “were so different.” Nick Jr. was a block that targeted to preschoolers and toddlers.

They are in Los Angeles, while we are in New York. According to his explanation to TODAY.com, “there is absolutely no overlap whatsoever between any of those shows and what we were doing.” He also said that he was unaware of the charges that were made against the network during his time as the owner of the network.

“I do not have any specific insight into any of that,” the speaker has said. While he was thinking about it, he thought, “I’m coming to it with horror and heartbreak, just like everyone else else.” “Watching it all play out is simply a dreadful experience. I am at a loss for words; all I can say is that it is absolutely, completely devastating.

Burns said that the child stars who have come forward must be experiencing “unfathomably painful” levels of public scrutiny as a result of the documentary.

“It just breaks my heart that this is now what everyone is talking about at the water cooler,” he said. “It’s just so sad.”

The Dark Side of Children: Working in Quiet on Set TV delved inside some of the poisonous culture of children’s television programs that young performers and others had to suffer in the 1990s and 2000s. This culture included numerous series that were created by Dan Schneider. In addition to that, it contained interviews with former cast members, writers, and crew members from popular Nickelodeon series such as All That, The Amanda Show, and Zoey 101. These individuals discussed the supposed unpleasant atmosphere that existed behind the scenes of the shows.

Following an internal inquiry into his alleged conduct on set, which included verbal abuse and demanding behavior, Schneider resigned from his position at the network in 2018. Allegations of improper behavior have been refuted by Schneider.

During the course of the documentary series, the most shocking revelation was made by Drake Bell, who revealed that he had been subjected to sexual assault at the hands of Brian Peck, the dialect coach for Nickelodeon, starting when he was 15 years old and continuing for a period of six months.

In 2004, given the circumstances surrounding Bell’s case, Peck entered a plea of no contest to the charges of oral copulation with a juvenile under the age of 16 and performing a lewd act with a teenager. Both of these charges were brought against him. Due to the fact that Bell was a kid at the time, his name as the victim was not disclosed to the audience. Not only did Peck serve sixteen months in jail, but he was also had to register as a sexual offender.

In November 2022, twenty years after Burns’ abrupt departure from Blue’s Clues in 2002, he finally broke his silence on his departure and disclosed that he departed due to his severe mental depression. This comes twenty years after Burns’ departure.

According to what he said to Variety at the time, “I didn’t know it yet, but I was the happiest depressed person in North America during that time.” When I was on the program, I was dealing with serious clinical depression. I was suffering with it the whole time. My profession required me to be entirely and utterly filled with delight and astonishment at all times, but I found that it was difficult to meet that need.

Following that, the series was reimagined and made its debut in 2019 under the title Blue’s Clues and You. Joshua Dela Cruz makes his debut as the host of the new program. In the same way as Burns did, Dela Cruz has a Thinking Chair, a Handy Dandy Notebook, and companions such as Tickety Tock, Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper, Mailbox, and Magenta.
