Christie and Wesley Werts, a committed couple, started their journey together five years ago, integrating their families and building a loving home for Wesley’s children, Austin and Dakota, as well as Christie’s daughter, Megan. They have been together ever since.
When they adopted Levi, a miracle baby, into their life, they had no idea that their love story would take an unexpected turn. Levi made his entrance into their lives via adoption.
Throughout the whole of Levi’s adoption procedure, evidence of the Werts family’s commitment and endurance was readily apparent. They had been waiting for eighteen months, and when they finally brought their newborn baby home, they were ecstatic.
The adoption narrative of Levi, on the other hand, took a very moving turn in August of 2021. This sad event occurred only four days after Levi’s preterm birth at 33 weeks owing to addiction and difficulties with the coronavirus. Levi’s real mother was born in Texas, and she was a past lover of Wesley’s.
As soon as Christie found out about Levi’s existence, she became resolute in her commitment to give him with a home that was both loving and stable. Christie had personal experience with foster care.
Incredible as it may seem, Christie had been having reoccurring nightmares about a youngster with blue eyes and blonde hair for a period of three months before to meeting Levi. She made the choice to adopt Levi after learning about his existence, and this dream had a key role in that decision.
The Werts family flew from Ohio to Texas in order to meet Levi, and their first meeting was a reflection of Christie’s fantasy. Child Protection Services was the organization that arranged the trip. Christie recalls with fondness, “The moment I walked in, I fell in love with this baby who had blue eyes and blonde hair.”
In spite of the fact that they encountered obstacles during the adoption process, such as court processes to terminate the parental rights of Levi’s biological father, the Werts family remained unwavering in their determination to provide Levi with a prosperous future.
Levi’s adoption was completed after sixteen months of rigorous home visits, interviews, and court hearings. This allowed the Werts family to properly welcome him into their hearts and home before the adoption was formalized.
Christie’s decision to publicly share Levi’s tale was met with criticism from some individuals, while others expressed their support and well-wishes for the newly extended family.
