In a statement, the singer’s wife stated that he passed away peacefully while he was sleeping over the weekend.

A hitmaker who was responsible for songs like “Hungry Eyes” and “All By Myself,” Eric Carmen, who was the main vocalist of the Raspberries, has passed away. He was 74 years old.

In a statement that was published on the musician’s website on Monday, the musician’s wife, Amy Carmen, said that Eric passed away peacefully while he was sleeping over the weekend.

“It is with tremendous sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Eric Carmen,” according to the official statement. “It brought him great joy to know, that for decades, his music touched so many and will be his lasting legacy.”

Amy continues by describing the GRAMMY-nominated singer and songwriter as “sweet, loving, and talented,” while also requesting that people respect their privacy at this time of mourning for their family of “enormous loss.” Amy utilized her husband’s own words to commemorate him and remind his admirers of an important message that he shared during his decade-long career in the music business. Amy came to this conclusion by using her husband’s own thoughts.

When she wrote, “Love Is All That Matters…” she was referring to his song of the same name, which was released in 1977. “Faithful and Forever.”

Eric, who was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, initially achieved fame with Jim Bonfanti, Wally Bryson, and Dave Smalley in the band Raspberries. The Raspberries released four albums in only two years, and their song “Go All the Way” sold one million copies.

There were more than a dozen songs and six albums that he recorded as a solo artist between the years 1975 and 2000. Some of the tracks that he released are “Never Gonna Fall in Love Again,” “She Did It,” and “Make Me Lose Control.” Additionally, he was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1984 for his contribution to the soundtrack of the film Footloose, which was “Almost Paradise… Love Theme From Footloose,” which was performed by Mike Reno and Ann Wilson during that year.

Immediately upon the dissemination of the news of the singer-songwriter’s passing on Monday, a flood of tributes came in, with other artists expressing their sorrow over the loss and expressing gratitude for the contributions he made to the music of the world.

It is with great sadness that I learned about Eric Carmen’s passing. When I was younger, one of my favorite bands was The Raspberries. John Eddie, a musician, commented that he purchased their debut album with the scratch and sniff sticker because “Go All The Way” is the ideal rock and roll single.

“This news has left me in utter disbelief. I first became aware of rock music via the songs of Eric Carmen and the Raspberries. The rock song “Go All the Way” was the one that formally introduced me to the genre and helped me get started on my journey. We spent a lot of time together during the band reunion, and I knew Eric. “May God rest the soul of a true great,” said Eddie Trunk, host of SiriusXM.

Eric’s wife, Amy, and his two children, Kathryn and Clayton, from his former marriage to Susan Carmen, are the only people who will remember him after his passing.
