When Maddy Baloy, who is now 26 years old, was diagnosed with cancer that was terminal, it was just a year ago. She made the decision to make the most of the time she has left, which includes checking a few items off her bucket list, after being confronted with the news that would ultimately change the course of her life.

“My mind shifted, and I was like, ‘I am going to get every ounce of life that I can out of this,'” says Baloy, whose honest confessions and day in the life videos have struck a chord with her almost 400,000 followers on TikTok. Baloy’s films have caused her to have a significant number of followers. We have no control over the situation. I may as well go ahead and have some fun.”

During the summer of 2022, the individual who had previously worked as a kindergarten teacher at Shore Acres Elementary School in Florida started suffering stomach troubles. She altered her diet and eliminated a variety of items altogether for a period of more than a year.

According to Baloy, who spoke with PEOPLE, “I was really trying to solve it for myself.”

On the other hand, she started suffering sensory difficulties and vomiting on a regular basis on February 22, 2023. Together with her fiance, Louis Risher, she went to the urgent care center, where she was certain that it was “either a worm” or a stomach illness that she had picked up from one of her pupils.

Because of the anomalies that were discovered in Baloy’s large intestine during a CT scan that was performed in the emergency department, the patient needed immediate surgery. At the beginning of the process, they discovered a number of malignant tumors that were pressing on her big intestine.
Following that, her loved ones came to the “executive decision” to hold off on informing her of the news until she recovered from her sleep. According to Baloy, “They wanted me to have one more peaceful night of sleep before they found out that I had cancer.”

Coming to grips with the information was not a simple task.

“At that moment, I had the thought, ‘Okay, my life is now so completely different,'” recalls Baloy. There is no preparation being made for a family or a home life.

From the beginning, it was only given five years to survive, but even that is not a guarantee. “On the basis of my X-rays alone, I feel as though I ought to be dead right now,” she adds. “I’ve been told this on multiple occasions.”

Following the experience of feeling “so alone and isolated,” she made the decision to sign up for TikTok in order to begin documenting her journey and demonstrating what it is really like to be a young lady dealing with terminal cancer.

She emphasizes the need of letting oneself to feel “every single emotion while we’re here because we’re not going to be here for very long.” “I knew that I had a lot to say,” she adds, explaining that she was aware of the fact that she had a lot to say.

There is one video in particular that has struck a chord with people, and that is her bucket list video. In it, she lists 19 things that she wants to achieve in her lifetime, such as climbing Camelback Mountain in Arizona (she jokes, “I have beef with this mountain”), persuading someone to stop dieting, getting a tattoo with her grandmother, and a secret 20th item that is just for her.

Having just had the opportunity to meet Gordon Ramsay, Baloy was able to mark another item off her list. She describes the experience as being “everything” that she had imagined it would be.

As she puts it, “He is simply the most amazing man in the entire world.” The VIP A-list celebrity experience was provided to us by what he did.
