For her song “Dance You Outta My Head,” the singer, who had a rare form of cancer, went popular on TikTok after she said that all the money from the dance track would go to her son Loren.

Singer Cat Janice, who went popular on TikTok for writing a song for her 7-year-old son, has passed away after a fight with cancer. She was 31 years old.

Through an Instagram post on Wednesday, Cat’s family said that she had passed away from sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that affects bones and soft parts.

“This morning, from her childhood home and surrounded by her loving family, Catherine peacefully entered the light and love of her heavenly creator,” the statement said, showing a picture of Janice. “We are eternally thankful for the outpouring of love that Catherine and our family have received over the past few months.”

Cat did not expect her music to go where it did. She is now at peace knowing that her music will continue to support her son. Without all of you, this would not have been possible. “Thank you ♥,” it said in the comment.

Fans of the singer-songwriter were also told that Cat’s brother Cubby will be in charge of her Instagram account and “operations surrounding Cat’s music, merchandise, and public relations.”

Cat will share “some more art that she wants to share” in the future, the statement said.

“Dance You Outta My Head,” Cat’s dance song, went popular on TikTok earlier this year after she said that all the money she made from it would go to her son Loren.

The singer from Washington, D.C., said on TikTok on January 15 that she had given Loren all the rights to her music and asked fans to save her song “Dance You Outta My Head” ahead of time, calling it her “final goodbye song.”

“My art is all I have left behind, and I’m leaving it for my son to make money off of,” she wrote, holding up a bunch of pictures of her family and herself while she was in hospice care at home.

After a few weeks, Cat was thrilled to hear that “Dance You Outta My Head” had not only started to chart on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Top 40 list, but it had also climbed to No. 11 in Dance/Electronic digital sales. (This song later got to No. 1)

I’m shocked to be in the top 40 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Billboard Chart and also number eleven on the Digital Sales Chart. She wrote, “YOU ALL DID THIS.” “You made my dream come true.” It came at the perfect time for me. I had my “one more moment alive” because you all loved me again. When I wrote the lyrics to “Wishing I Was You,” I badly wanted one more chance to scream from the rooftops. You all loved me so much that you gave me that chance, and I will always be grateful to you. I know I am loved no matter what God throws at me.

He or she shared their last TikTok video on February 19. She sang with another singer who did a “moody version” of the song.

“I’ve been stuck slowly passing, unable to move, cannot use my legs, trapped in this near lifeless body,” Cat said in the video. “Cancer isn’t funny and never behaves well. To think that soon I’ll be dancing with God and my grandmother in the next world while flying through the sky is a beautiful moment. I’m going to dance like crazy when I’m finally free. Thanks to all of you, my baby boy will also have all of these great memories. Thanks, Sarah ❤ I look forward to seeing all of you up there someday.”

In 2022, Cat was told she had cancer. She said that in July 2022, she was told she no longer had cancer. But in June of last year, Cat said that her cancer had come back.

Her son, brother, and husband are the ones who will miss her.
