When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their romance public for the first time, many people looked up to them as role models since they thought that their relationship was something reminiscent of a fairytale when it was first publicized.
when a number of years of dating and marriage, the pair was confronted with a great deal of criticism, particularly when they made the announcement that they would be stepping down from their position as senior royals. Because of this, the general public became even more interested in learning about what they do in their private lives, particularly when they made the decision to relocate to the United States in order to raise their children.
The newly engaged pair then gave an interview to the BBC in 2017, during which they discussed their relationship and the engagement they had just announced.
The duchess remembered that they had been acquainted on a blind date that had been arranged for them by a mutual acquaintance. Meghan said that she placed a single condition on her relationship with the prince: she would only go out with him if he was kind.
They made a decision to go out for a drink together, and they quickly became close to one another, to the point where they decided to go out on another date the following day.

Despite the fact that the prince stated that he had never seen an episode of “Suits” before and had never even heard of Meghan before they met, he was immediately awestruck by her beauty as soon as he walked into the room where they were having drinks.

In addition, Harry said that the engagement took place some weeks before to the time when they were scheduled to meet with the BBC for their interview. In his response to the interviewer, he said that the evening was nothing out of the ordinary for the two of them, since they were staying at their cottage and devouring roasted chicken for dinner.
After some time had passed, Meghan said that the prince had proposed to her by kneeling down on one knee. However, before he could even complete proposing, the duchess claimed that she had quickly accepted his proposal and given the ring to her.
Despite the fact that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry violated a handful of royal traditions when they tied the knot on May 19, 2018, millions of people continued to tune in to see the wedding of the century. The wedding was attended by hundreds of guests from the royal family as well as their closest friends.
Later, the married pair surprised the world by announcing that they would be stepping down from their positions as senior royals at the beginning of 2020. Since then, they have made the move to the United States of America, where they are now residing with their two children, known as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, respectively.
Although they would continue to have their titles of HRH, they would no longer be eligible for financial assistance from the palace and would no longer be able to perform any royal responsibilities in their capacity as representatives of the queen. Their scathing critique of the culture of the royal family, which they expressed in the now-famous interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, was received with some widespread condemnation, but the couple also gained a great deal of sympathy from people all across the globe.

Archewell is the name of the Sussex family’s own brand, which they have been hard at work establishing ever since they moved to Montecito, Santa Barbara, California.
Harry released his book “Spare” in January 2023, which he characterized as “full of insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief.” Meghan started producing a podcast called “Archetypes” in August 2022. Harry’s memoir was published in January 2023.
Harry and Meghan continue to be public personalities who are involved in their own initiatives and support a wide variety of philanthropic causes, despite the fact that they are no longer the working royals. Nevertheless, a great number of people have voiced their disapproval of the couple’s continued use of their HRH titles, especially when they presented their redesigned website, Sussex.com, on February 12, 2024. These two individuals are referred to as “Prince Harry and Meghan the Duke and Duchess of Sussex” on the homepage of the website, which features the royal coat of arms of the Sussex family.
One unexpected fact has sparked discussion on the website, despite the fact that it does not currently include a great deal of material.
In the new website that the Sussexes have created, the courageous decision was taken to not use Meghan’s last name, Markle. When Meghan made the choice to abandon her surname, it was not overlooked by anybody. Numerous individuals pointed out that this decision was in accordance with royal customs, which are observed by a significant number of members of the royal family, including ladies who marry into the family.
Despite the fact that several people were taken aback by Meghan’s new name, one knowledgeable individual had anticipated the change far in advance of the wedding of the pair. Marlene Koenig, an expert on royal affairs, said to Town & Country in 2018:
“When Meghan is married, she will sign her name simply Meghan, without a surname. In the same way that Harry signs as Harry. Most royals just use their first names.
It is a conscious choice that the term “royal” is not used on any of the pages of the website. This decision was taken in accordance with an agreement that was established in the year 2020, before to the breakup between the Sussexes and the royal family. According to a statement made by a spokesperson for the couple at the time, “given the specific UK government rules surrounding use of the word royal… the Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use ‘Sussex Royal’ in any territory after spring 2020.” The following is an excerpt from a portion of their previous website, Sussexroyal.com, which provides more explanation of her statement:
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have stated that they do not intend to use the term “Sussex Royal” or any other form of the word “Royal” in any territory (whether it be within the United Kingdom or elsewhere) when the transition takes place in the spring of 2020. This is despite the fact that the Monarchy and the Cabinet Office do not have any authority over the use of the word “Royal” in other countries.
It is important to note that Buckingham Palace continues to refer to the couple as the Sussexes, despite the fact that much criticism has been directed on the Sussexes and their usage of their royal titles. On the official website of the royal palace, Meghan is referred to as the Duchess of Sussex. She and her husband continue “to honor their duty to the Monarch, the Commonwealth, and their patronages”, as stated on the website.
