After thirty-five years of marriage, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are still deeply in love with one another.
Sedgwick, who is 58 years old, celebrated Valentine’s Day by posting a picture on Instagram on Wednesday. The shot was taken on the set of the movie Lemon Sky, which is where the two of them first became romantically involved.
“This is a blurry Polaroid of where it all began, which was on the set of Lemon Sky in 1987,” the photographer describes. It has been abundantly evident ever since… I will always love you. Using the hashtag “#MyValentineEveryDay,” the actress captioned the photograph, which featured the couple lounging on sun seats in front of a vintage automobile.
Bacon, who is 65 years old, replied by posting a charming black and white photograph that was shot on the day of their wedding in 1988. The photograph showed Bacon with his arm around his wife, who was demonstrating affection by placing her head on his shoulder.
With the message “My forever Valentine ❤️,” he accompanied the image.
In spite of the fact that they first met while working on the film, the pair continues to collaborate. Bacon appeared in the film Space Oddity, which was directed by Sedgwick and released in 2022. The two of them worked together on the film.
Following their appearances in Cavedweller and The Woodsman in 2004, Bacon and Sedgwick will be working together for the first time in the forthcoming film Connescence, which was announced by PEOPLE last month. This will be the first time that they have worked together in a cinematic role.
Bacon said that it was love at first sight when he saw Sedgwick on the set of Lemon Sky all those years ago. He made this statement in an interview with PEOPLE that took place in March of 2023.
“I was knocked out,” he said with me. “I thought she was amazing.”
However, Sedgwick was not entirely confident in Bacon, who had already had a taste of celebrity courtesy to his performance as Ren McCormack in the film Footloose, which was released in 1984. “I remember thinking, ‘Oh, he thinks he’s really cool,'” she said in an interview with THE PEOPLE.
All the same, the two of them went out on a date anyhow, and the rest, as they say, is history.
As she remembered, “I remember waking up and going, ‘I feel like home,'” she said. “I realized, ‘Oh, that was him.'”
In an interview with People, the pair (who have a son named Travis, who is 34 years old, and a daughter named Sosie, who is 31 years old) said that the ability to make one other laugh has been an essential component of their marriage.
In his words, “A sense of humor is crucial,” Sedgwick added. “He is very freaking funny.”
