While attending the premiere of ‘Bob Marley: One Love’ in Los Angeles, the singer granted an interview to ET.
There is nothing but love and appreciation for JAY-Z and the message that he conveyed when he was performing on stage at the Grammy Awards on Sunday. Kelly Rowland has nothing but such feelings.
Rowland walked the red carpet at the premiere of Bob Marley: One Love at the Regency Village Theatre in Los Angeles on Tuesday, which was in advance of the film’s release on February 14. She also had a conversation with Kevin Frazier of ET regarding JAY-Z’s statements in which he criticized the Recording Academy for ignoring his wife, Beyoncé, in the past.
“Shawn Carter is one of the greatest men I know, and his words ring so loud to me,” Rowland said with a grin. “I cannot express how much I appreciate him.” “I couldn’t be more proud of him.”
According to Rowland, “I’m just really happy for a lot of things that he said,” she said. “I think that he made a lot of artists feel very seen and very heard in those minutes that he took on stage.”
The rapper known for his song “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” made his way onto the GRAMMYs stage beside his daughter Blue Ivy, who is 12 years old, in order to collect the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award among the other celebrities in attendance. During his address, the guy who was born and raised in Brooklyn focused on the major omissions made by The Recording Academy, such as the fact that they ignored DMX in 1998 and also his wife.

JAY-Z said, “We want you all to get it right,” and he meant it. We adore each and every one of you. Please make sure that you get it properly. Try to get it as near as correct as possible. For the simple reason that it is music, it is plainly subjective. It is based on personal opinion.”
Despite the fact that he never revealed her name because he didn’t want to “embarrass her,” JAY-Z said that it is a significant injustice that the artist who has won the most Grammys in history, with a record 32, has never been awarded Album of the Year. JAY-Z also wanted to make sure that The Recording Academy was aware of the situation while the whole world was watching.
“I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more GRAMMYs than anyone else and she has never won Album of the Year,” the rapper stated in reference to Beyoncé, who was present in the audience and had a serious expression on her face. “Therefore, even according to your own standards, it is not enough. Imagine that the artist who has won the most Grammys has never been awarded Album of the Year. That is not going to work.”
When it came to Beyoncé herself, Rowland said that she was very perplexed by the fact that she had not been awarded Album of the Year.
I get the impression that she is a legend, and there is a good reason for it: she is the one who initiates fashion trends. Her ideas are huge and brilliant, and she simply goes for them and gets things done,” Rowland observed. “She is inventive, and her thinking are big and bright.” “I think that her albums are a reflection of that, and it should be really celebrated in that way.”
“I’m not saying that because it’s my sister, I’m saying it because it’s the truth,” Rowland said. “I’ve seen the blood, sweat and tears that she puts into these projects, and her thoughts and her heart and her passion and her soul.”
