It has been decided by NBC to produce a pilot episode of the program.
It has been announced that Reba McEntire will be returning to the realm of scripted television!
The extraordinary singer and actress, who is 68 years old, is set to make a triumphant comeback to television with an original NBC series that was just picked up for a pilot. This information was revealed by Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday.
The Voice coach will reportedly appear in and serve as executive producer for a multi-camera comedy that would have her character inheriting her father’s restaurant after her father’s passing, as stated by spokespeople for NBC and Universal Television. It is when she finds out that her business partner in the attempt is a half-sister that she was unaware she had that things begin to take an intriguing turn, and it is also likely that they will become humorous.
At this point in time, it is not apparent if any other casting choices have been made, including the decision about the half-sister of Reba herself. Although there is a lack of information on the individuals who will be a part of the cast, it would seem that NBC is sticking to a tried-and-true method when it comes to generating a successful series.
The project, which has not yet been given a title, is a reunion between Reba and the executive producers Kevin Abbott, Michael Hanel, and Mindy Schultheis, all of whom are connected to Reba’s television program of the same name. Ms. Julie Abbott is the newest member of the EPs team.
In the wake of the simultaneous strikes that were carried out by the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild-AFTRA in the summer and autumn of 2023, the new program is the first to earn a pilot order for the broadcast pilot season of 2024.
In addition to Joanna Garcia, Steve Howey, Christopher Rich, and Melissa Peterman, the television show Reba was shown on The WB (which would eventually be rebranded as The CW) from the year 2001 to the year 2007.

Following the revelation that Reba would play the national anthem at Super Bowl LVIII on February 11, she will take the stage in front of millions of viewers to perform the song. The news of the pilot came shortly after the announcement.
On January 18, she sent a tweet in which she said, “It is an honor to be a part of something as big and historic as the Super Bowl coming to Las Vegas for the first time!”
In addition, the singer and actress is coming off of her first season on NBC’s The Voice, where she coached two of the top five candidates, including Ruby Leigh, who finished in second place, all the way through to the conclusion of the competition.
She took a minute to offer a shout-out to her fellow coaches, John Legend, Gwen Stefani, and Niall Horan, during an interview with ET in December. She said that they were quite helpful to her throughout her first season of coaching.
“All of us are still dear friends. She went on to say that it is of great assistance. “In particular, John was an outstanding performer… “He assisted me in formulating the strategy.”
During the following season, she will have the opportunity to return to her role as a coach with Legend, as well as newcomers Chance the Rapper and Dan + Shay.
