Lynch reportedly passed away on Friday night after the vehicle she was riding in was engaged in a head-on accident in West Texas. Multiple accounts have said that this event occurred. According to Michael Lynch, Lynch’s cousin, the news was verified to CBS News. A vintage video of the Chicks performing in their early days was featured in a post that was published on Saturday on the Chicks’ Instagram account, which also relayed the news.

The news of the demise of Laura Lynch, a founding member of The Chicks, has left us in a state of shock and profound sadness. According to the long description that was posted on the official Instagram account of the group, “We hold a special place in our hearts for the time we spent together playing music, laughing, and traveling.” When we were just starting out as a band, Laura’s contagious energy and hilarious sense of humor served as a flame that ignited our band. In addition to having a talent for design, Laura was a huge fan of anything Texas-related, and she had a significant role in the band’s early success. We went from busking on street corners to performing on venues all around Texas and the mid-West because to her unquestionable abilities, which helped catapult us to further places. During this difficult time, we are keeping her family and their loved ones in our thoughts.
The heartfelt tribute was signed by Emily Strayer, Martie Maguire, and Natalie Maines.
KTSM, a news station in Texas, reported that the de.adly collision took place on United States Highway 62 in Hudspeth County, just east of El Paso, at around 5:45 p.m. as reported by the station. When the driver of a truck attempted to pass another vehicle, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported that the truck was moving in the westbound direction. The pickup truck that Lynch was driving was subsequently involved in a head-on collision with that vehicle, and Lynch was declared passed at the site of the accident. The second truck caught fire, and the guy who was inside that truck was transported to a hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.
In 1989, Lynch, together with her sisters Emily and Martie, established the band known as the Dixie Chicks. Among the members of the ensemble was also the guitarist, Robin Lynn Macy, who had previously worked as a math teacher in middle school. The band’s first album to be recorded at an independent studio, titled Thank Heavens for Dale Evans, was released in the year 1990. As a result of Macy’s retirement, the band eventually reformed as a trio around three years after it had been formed. 1992 was the year that the band released their second album, which was an independent release and was titled Little Ol’ Cowgirl. Shouldn’t a Told You That, the band’s last album recorded from an independent studio, was released the next year.
Maines was able to become a member of the band when Lynch quit the band in the year 1995. After a period of three years, the band finally published their first album on a big label, which was titled Wide Open Spaces. This album was a huge success and included the very successful song “I Can Love You Better.”
Due to the fact that “Dixie” was a moniker for the Confederate States of America during the time of the Civil War, the band decided to alter their name to just The Chicks in the year 2020. This decision was made in reaction to the Black Lives Matter movement.
Both Lynch’s husband and daughter will go on after her passing.
