Imelda Staunton is sharing the location as to where she was when she became aware of the passing of Queen Elizabeth.
On Friday, the actress, who is 67 years old, made an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, where she discussed her feelings on the passing of the late king, who passed away in September of 2022.
Staunton, who portrays the final of three iterations of the royal on the Netflix series, responded to the question posed by host Graham Norton about whether or not she was filming The Crown at the time of the Queen’s passing by saying, “Lesley Manville, who plays Princess Margaret, and I were filming, and at lunchtime we were told we might hear some sad news.”
It was then that the producers informed her that it was connected to the passing of the Queen, and they asked her if she wanted to postpone shooting, but she rejected. The actress said that she was first perplexed by the situation.
“We carried on and finished the day, … and weirdly, in the schedule, I had 10 days off, which was the 10 days of mourning,” added the woman. That evening, I was unable to find any solace. As for me, I would have been sad, but clearly, I believe that it was fueled by the fact that I had lived with her for such a long time.
On September 8, 2022, it was revealed that Queen Elizabeth had passed away. 96 years old was the passed monarch.
In an official statement issued at the time, Buckingham Palace made the announcement that “the Queen passed away peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.” “The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
The United Kingdom, where she had ruled for a record seventy years, as well as other countries that referred to her as the head of state or Sovereign, plunged into public mourning at the Queen’s passing.
Queen Elizabeth had four children, eight grandkids, and twelve great-grandchildren when she passed away. She also had a total of twelve great-grandchildren.

The character of Queen Elizabeth is played by Staunton in the last two seasons of The Crown. Claire Foy was the one who directed the first two seasons of the show, while Olivia Colman was the one who took over the job for the third and fourth seasons.
Staunton discussed the “extra challenge” that comes with portraying a more modern version of the Queen with Emma Barnett, who is a broadcaster on the BBC radio program Woman’s Hour. This conversation took place after Staunton had landed the part.
“I think my sort of extra challenge, as if I needed it, is that I’m now doing the Queen that we’re a little more familiar with,” the actress — who is most famously recognized for playing Dolores Umbridge in the Harry Potter films and as Lady Bagshaw in the Downton Abbey movie — noted at the time.
“With Claire Foy, it was almost history, and now I’m playing one that people could say, ‘She doesn’t do that,’ or ‘She’s not like that,’ and that’s my personal bête noire,” Staunton further said.
Netflix is presently giving users the opportunity to see the final episodes of The Crown.
