In an interview with ET’s Nischelle Turner, the celebrated singer and actress, who is 54 years old, walked the red carpet at the 2023 Elle Women in Hollywood event in Los Angeles. She discussed her upcoming album, This Is Me… Now, as well as how she collaborated with her husband, Ben Affleck, on the film project that is associated with the record.

“This project was something I didn’t really plan,” Lopez stated, adding that it all stemmed from being inspired by her love story with Affleck and her romantic journey through her life. “It was something I didn’t really plan before,” Lopez said.

“When the music eventually came to an end, all I could think was, ‘There’s more of a story to be told here.'” This is not only a love tale; there has been a much longer journey than that. Lopez said that as a result, the project evolved into a much larger and more comprehensive one, with an excellent message. “And I realized I had to really get personal to tell it.”

In addition to attending the event to show his support for Lopez and engaging in some tender physical contact with her on the red carpet, Affleck was also a contributor to the writing of This Is Me…Finally, there is the film, which tells the tale of how the record was made as well as Lopez’s personal experience of falling in love and discovering happiness.

Lopez provided an explanation of the working relationship with Affleck, stating, “We collaborate very well together.”

“And nobody knows my story more than he does,” she said further. “So we were able to kind of sit down and really dig into it, in a way that I don’t think any other writer could’ve done with me.”

Lopez stated that she had not been this thrilled or “on edge about a project in many, many years,” but she felt comfortable and supported by her spouse while they worked on it together. Lopez’s husband was the one who made her smile.

In addition, Lopez said that “the scary thing is putting it out.” “That’s the scary part.”
