The divorce proceedings between Witherspoon and Jim Toth were finalized in August, while those between Costner and Christine Baumgartner were finalized in September.
This is not some harmless white lie. It’s a bald-faced, old-fashioned falsehood. There have been reports that Reese Witherspoon and Kevin Costner, both of whom have been divorced quite recently, are dating. These allegations have been circulating on social media and are gaining momentum by the minute.
However, a representative for the star of the Morning Show batted denied the claim to Page Six, which said that there is not even a grain of truth to the allegation. “This story is completely fabricated and not true,” a representative for Witherspoon told the site.
ET has attempted to contact Witherspoon and Costner’s representatives in order to get comment.
When a podcaster surveyed his audience by asking whether they “love this new couple” after prefacing the question with the fact that there were reports about the new relationship, it seemed that the rumor mill began to spin wildly. The fact that both Witherspoon, 47, and Costner, 68, recently finalized their divorces from their respective ex-spouses only served to spread the story farther and further.
However, as a representative for Witherspoon has said, there is nothing to see here.
In August, the divorce between Witherspoon and Jim Toth was finally formalized. In March, she submitted a petition for divorce, claiming that they had irreconcilable disagreements. Tennessee, their son, who is now ten years old, was shared by the previous couple. In addition, she and her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe are the parents of their children, Deacon Reese Phillippe and Ava Phillippe.
“Reese and Jim’s decision to get a divorce was really just an amicable and thoughtful choice on both parts,” a source previously told ET. They came to the conclusion together, and there is no need to make a big deal out of it. It is all done out of love, and they are dedicated to watching out for their kid as well as the rest of the family as a unit.
This smooth dissolution of marriage stood in sharp contrast to the acrimonious divorce fight that Kevin Costner had with his wife Christine Baumgartner, who filed for divorce on May 1 after 18 years of marriage. They have a boy named Cayden who is 13 years old, a son named Hayes who is 14 years old, and a daughter named Grace who is 13 years old.
After a protracted struggle over how much he should pay her in child support, Kevin Costner and Jennifer Baumgartner finally reached a divorce settlement in September. A representative for Costner told ET in a joint statement for the two that they finally came “to an amicable and mutually agreed upon resolution of all issues pertaining to their divorce proceedings.”
