A micropreemie from New York was born 16 weeks prematurely and weighed 1 pound, 2 ounces. He spent his whole life, which lasted approximately 500 days, being cared for by nurses, physicians, and other members of the medical team.
However, ABC station WABC-TV and CBS affiliate WCBS-TV reported that Greyson Butler was ultimately released from the hospital on Wednesday.

“A lot of sleepless nights, a lot of tears, a lot of prayers, a lot of cries,” his mother, Monae Harper, said in an interview with WABC-TV. She continued by saying that he is living evidence of the power of miracles. Because my kid is now here, there are a lot of smiles all around. He is nothing short of a miracle.”

After more than a year of “roller coaster” emotions after Greyson’s birth on June 27, 2022, Harper and Greyson’s father, Jeffrey Butler, seemed to be pleased to be returning home from Blythedale Children’s Hospital in Valhalla. Greyson was born on June 27, 2022.

According to WCBS-TV, the infant from the Bronx was diagnosed with congenital cardiac malfunction as well as chronic lung illness, and was given around a 20% chance of life.

During his stay in the hospital, which consisted of a total of five different medical institutions, Greyson was subjected to two operations, as well as five separate episodes of pneumonia. He required a total of 15 blood transfusions.

Harper expressed her sentiments to WCBS, saying, “I was instantly worried,” about how she felt following the birth of Greyson. “So, let me start by saying that there were many days when I thought my kid was going to go home, but then another incident occurred. We were shaking with fear. It seemed as if he was about to collapse. He had such a gentle disposition.

She continued by saying, “When they say roller coaster, they really mean it. There are plenty of days when everything goes well, but there are also plenty of days when your stomach turns and you can’t even keep your head up. I was aware that it was going to be a lengthy roller coaster, but I was not aware that it was going to be this long.

But despite all, little Greyson, who now weighs 20 pounds, managed to triumph over the challenges. In addition, the medical staff is not worried about any neurological problems that the happy infant may have had.

According to Dr. Dennis Davidson, who was interviewed by WABC-TV, “I come in the morning and I know he’s okay because if I tickle him, he rolls around laughing and he throws a towel over his head,”

In preparation for Greyson’s return home this week, his parents received instruction on how to properly care for the ventilator and tracheostomy system that he will be using.

Now, as Greyson’s family gets ready to start a new life outside of the hospital, Greyson’s father couldn’t help but think back on their challenging path and how motivating it has been to see how his son has handled all that has happened.

It’s possible that he’ll be behind his peers when it comes to walking. But I have no problem whatsoever with him. “He’s got a good head on his shoulders and a sense of humor,” Butler said to WCBS-TV.

He continued by saying, “I believe it’s a narrative about a miracle. He was relentless in his pursuit of victory. There have been many times in my life when I’ve felt like giving up and throwing in the towel, but then I think, “If he can do it—he’s here every day, he never stops fighting—then what am I going to stop fighting for?”
