Even though it has been many years since the passing of the well-known Australian television personality and wildlife educator Steve Irwin in 2006, his family, which includes his wife Terri Irwin and his children Bindi Irwin and Robert Irwin, have kept his legacy alive and are certain to remember him whenever they reach a significant new point in their lives. This requires Robert, the son, to treasure the experiences he has had with his father in the past and to divulge those memories to the rest of the world, as he did when he took a new family member to the Australia Zoo.

Steve, a wildlife enthusiast for his whole life, sprang to prominence in 1996 when he appeared on “The Crocodile Hunter” with his wife as one of the show’s hosts. His vibrant and animated presenting style drew viewers in week after week to catch up with what they had missed from the previous week’s episodes. His passionate and energetic demeanor garnered him a legion of followers. Irwin became a household figure thanks to the program, which also popularized his catchphrase “Crikey!” and featured him wearing his trademark khakis throughout the series. The program was the one that held the record for the longest-running series on the Discovery Communications network, having lasted for 11 years until 2007.

In addition, Steve gained a following in the United States as a result of his regular performances on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.” A devoted environmentalist, he established the Lyn Irwin Memorial Fund, the Steve Irwin Conservation Foundation, International Crocodile Rescue, and the Ironbark Station Wildlife Rehabilitation Facility throughout his lifetime.

Steve and Terri were married in 1992, and they had their first child, Bindi, in 1998, and their second child, Robert, in 2003. But in 2006, disaster struck: while shooting an episode for “Ocean’s Deadliest” at the Great Barrier Reef, Steve was pierced in the heart by a short-tail stingray barb. Steve passed away as a result of his injuries. His death came as a shock to his devoted followers, who had seen him put himself in dangerous circumstances for years in order to raise awareness of the natural environment.

Now, Robert is continuing the work that his father started and paying tribute to his father’s memory in the process.

Robert has followed in the footsteps of his nature-loving father, Steve, by sporting the distinctive khakis and making appearances on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” Robert has also worn the signature khakis on the show. Additionally, he gives his well-known surname to television productions such as “Crikey! It’s “The Irwins,” with his mother Terri and sister Bindi, and “Ten Deadliest Snakes,” which he hosts. Robert, a constant presence at the Australia Zoo, is also a passionate photographer. He contributes his talents to conservation campaigns and other channels to promote awareness and funding. Because of his efforts, he has traveled to many parts of the globe to participate in photographic trips and has even had the opportunity to speak with King Charles III about the protection of animal habitats.

Robert has an incredible physical likeness to his father, and as a result, many people mistake him for his father in the photographs that he posts on social media. In addition to having a love for wildlife and conservation with his father, Robert also has this physical similarity.

In February of 2020, he shared a photo of himself on social media that seemed to show him looking strikingly similar to his late father. The resemblance was so striking that many people had to look at the photo more than once. The picture, which was uploaded on Instagram, showed a cheerful 16-year-old Robert clutching a koala. Robert’s eyes were closed in the picture, and he was smiling broadly while holding the koala. Many aspects of the picture captured his father’s spirit.

When people saw the portrait of Robert, they could barely believe their eyes, and those who followed him were particularly affected when they observed the resemblance to his father. It has unquestionably evoked a great deal of sentimental value. Someone made the observation: “Didn’t look at the name on the shirt and honest to god thought I was looking at Steve.” According to 7NEWS’s story, a second individual commented, “I legit thought this was Steve.”

On special occasions like anniversaries, Robert often remembers and honors his departed father via posts and comments on Instagram. In June of 2023, he was thrilled to announce the arrival of a new exhibit at Australia Zoo that had a meaningful connection to his father.

Robert uploaded an amazing video on Instagram on the 12th of June, 2023, in which he presented the newest member of the Australia Zoo’s collection. The newest family member was a kind of turtle that was so uncommon that it was given the name Steve, after the man who raised him. During an outing in the wilderness in the 1990s, he made the discovery while traveling with his own father, Bob Irwin, who was also a conservationist and an authority on top-level predators and reptiles.

Robert said in the video that this was “the first time I am actually laying eyes” on the Irwin’s Turtle, also known as Elseya irwini, as he was in the process of handling a member of the Australian freshwater species that is unique to the country. Robert went on to describe it as “such an incredible” and “historic” occasion, and then he explained the remarkable sense of having the species of turtle at the zoo by saying that it was like having a piece of history there.

The fact that my father was the one who first came upon these individuals is what, according to Robert, gives them an unparalleled degree of significance. He continued by saying that his father “knew there was something different about them,” and that “sure enough, it was a brand new species.”

Robert continued by saying that the species is not considered endangered since there is not enough information available about them due to how uncommon they are. However, one thing that we are certain of is that they are in a precarious position due to the dangers that humans have caused. Dams, mining, pollution, and the deterioration of habitats are among examples, as he stated.

“They only exist in very isolated pockets, so if anything were to happen to these waterways, it would be game over for the entire species. This is why it is so incredibly important to have a population here at the Australia Zoo to ensure that this species can survive on for generations to come,” said the zookeeper. “They only exist in very isolated pockets.”

Robert has kept up his efforts to the best of his ability in order to honor the memory of his departed father and to make Steve proud. Robert posted a video on Instagram on October 14, 2023, showing himself interacting with a baby turtle in the clip. It was a more in-depth investigation on the Elseya irwini, which he had addressed earlier in 2023. The nature enthusiast posted the following in the post’s caption:

“Wow. This was a really memorable occasion. I believe that our accomplishment of being the first people to successfully breed the turtle that Dad found would make him very pleased. A rare and distinctive animal that was in danger of extinction in its natural habitat has just been granted a second chance.

Robert said in the film that “This is one of the highlights of my entire life and one of the most special moments in the history of Australia Zoo.” This Elseya irwini, often known as an Irwin’s turtle, is the very first egg of its kind to ever be laid at any zoological institution, anywhere in the world. This particular species is a turtle that was found in the wild for the very first time by the father, and now for the very first time, we have a small baby.”

When Robert saw the young turtle go for its first swim, he couldn’t help but become caught up since he knew that he had successfully finished the task that his father had given him. “It’s just so out of this world. And then there are all the tales that Mom tells about how wonderful and lovely their children are. I don’t find myself becoming very emotional very often. He remarked that his father would be proud of him.

The comments section was filled with supporters telling Robert that they agreed that Steve would be very proud of him. It was stated by one observer that Steve was staring down and shedding happy tears. His heart is filled with pride not just because of the turtle, but also because his legacy has continued along the same road that he envisioned.
