Jenny and Chris Marr were the only children of their parents, and neither of their families had a history of multiple births, so it came as quite a shock to them when, in 2019, they went to their doctor for an ultrasound to find out whether they were going to have more than one kid. After first meeting at a bar, Jenny and Chris went on to establish a relationship, which ultimately led to their marriage. After that, they began their efforts to create a family. After a few more months had passed, Jenny discovered that she was pregnant, and she and her partner were overjoyed at the prospect of becoming parents. They were taken aback by the information that was provided to them by their physician, Dr. Lauren Murray, an OB-GYN at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas.
They saw that Dr. Murray had a peculiar expression on her face, and as a result, Jenny was understandably concerned that anything may be amiss with her child. However, Dr. Murray gave her some reassuring words before breaking some startling news to her.
“She yells out to all of you, ‘Y’all, there are three babies in there!'” And both of us were really taken aback,” Jenny said to Today.
On November 19, 2019, Jenny and Chris went to a specialist in maternal-fetal medicine for a follow-up consultation, which was a week after their first visit. When they saw that the technician was looking at them in a peculiar way, it left them wondering what was going on.
“We were like, ‘Oh my god, what’s going on now?’ Once again, our concerns resurfaced,” Chris remembered. “She had a really endearing appearance. “I’m not supposed to say this, but you all have four babies,” she remarked.
Quadruplets born during a single pregnancy are very uncommon, occurring in just one in 11 million or 15 million births. This was verified by Dr. Murray to CBS News, as she and her colleagues looked through the literature and discovered only approximately 72 instances of this happening.
“It’s impossible to believe. It won’t ever happen to me again in my professional life. She shared her story with Today, saying, “I told her, ‘Girl, go buy a few lottery tickets because those are the kind of odds we’re dealing with.'” “What a miracle it really was.”
After learning that their children were sharing a placenta, the couple’s hearts sank when they realized that this put all of their children in jeopardy in the event that one child received a greater quantity of nutrients than the others. However, the physicians gave Jenny and Chris their word that they would keep a watchful eye on the developing situation. Thankfully, the infants were quite liberal with their sharing.
When Jenny found out that she would be giving birth during the epidemic, her anxiety levels skyrocketed. She was only 28.5 weeks along when she went into labor, despite the fact that she had been trying to make it to 33 weeks for the sake of the infants. On March 15, 2020, the Texas resident gave birth to quadruplets at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. This occurred one week before to the announcement that Dallas County, Texas, will be subject to lockdown restrictions beginning on March 23.
Jenny successfully delivered all four of her kids through C-section in under three minutes. The procedure was successful. Harrison finished in first place with a weight of 2 pounds and 6 ounces. Next up was Hardy with a weight of 2 pounds and 10 ounces, then came Henry with a weight of 2 pounds and 6.7 ounces, and then Hudson with a weight of 1 pound and 15 ounces.
Because three infants born to Marr families required oxygen, they were required to spend almost ten weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and nearly one month in the special care nursery. May of 2020 was the month when all of the infants were finally discharged. Additionally, the hospital rejoiced and announced the good news on their Instagram account.
Jenny told CBS News that it has been “just really special” to be able to share the pleasure that comes from being able to see “these little miracles” with others.
She further claimed that it was difficult to differentiate between the guys for a period of time and that they were required to wear ankle bands. However, after a short amount of time, each baby began to acquire their own unique characteristics, which made it much simpler for the parents to differentiate between the children.
Chris shared with Today that each individual had a few distinguishing qualities.
The boys are now three years old and seem to be in good health.
