There is a convenience that comes with having a friendship that has been going strong for 25 years, and despite the fact that there is some new physical distance between them, there is a comfort.
“Everyone is always saying things like, ‘Oh, you make time for your friends, and you have to make it important.'” It was never a burden or a struggle. There was never a need for me to set a date and time for it. In an interview with PEOPLE, actress Lisa Ann Walter discussed her friendship with fellow actress Elaine Hendrix. The two are most known for playing Chessy and Meredith, their respective on-screen counterparts in the film The Parent Trap. (As a sign of respect for the SAG-AFTRA strike, Walter and Hendrix refrained from discussing any of their upcoming, ongoing, or completed projects.)
Since first meeting one other during the production of the acclaimed film from 1998, the couple has prioritized their relationship despite the ups and downs of their careers, the arrival of new family members (both human and animal), and their hectic schedules. And now they have realized that their friendship may have been the result of more than simply a stroke of luck; it may have been predestined.
The first episode of the new YouTube series unFamiliar from Ancestry has 60-year-old Walter as the lead. In the episode, Walter and her sons Jordan, Spencer, and Simon go back in time to the Lower East Side of Manhattan to rediscover the streets and buildings that their ancestors once called home. According to her, she set out on the adventure to discover more about her ancestry than what was included in the “family lore.”

Explaining his reasoning, Walter says, “I think that the interest for me was around who they were and what their life was.” “I have a strong interest in history. As a result, I was curious about their day-to-day lives, such as what occupations they had and the like, as well as other related information. And I picked up a lot of information in regard to it. And there were things about my other great-grandmother that I learnt that I had no prior knowledge about.
During the process of recording the show, she also made another exciting discovery: her best friend from forever had her beginnings on the same street. During the early 1900s, Hendrix’s great-grandparents and Walter’s great-grandparents both resided on Elizabeth Street in New York City. They were only separated by a few blocks. During the unFamiliar episode, Hendrix, 52, takes Walter by surprise by revealing the information.
Hendrix makes the assumption throughout the episode that “of course” they were familiar with one another. She continues by saying, “It was fate.”
I was aware that the Italian ancestors on my mother’s side had traveled through New York on their way to the United States, and I also knew that some of my family members had been born and raised in the state of New York. And at that time period, it was a very tiny town that had a strong sense of communal cohesion. Hendrix tells People that all of the Italians resided in the same general neighborhood. “Therefore, when Ancestry responded to me by telling me, ‘You’re never going to believe this,’ I was like, ‘Of course they did.’ And although it’s only speculation on our part, the odds are quite good that the two of them were familiar with one another.
During their excursion to the past, which Walter confessed was an emotional event for her, the star of Abbott Elementary and Hendrix got up to just a little bit of no good by slipping inside one of the buildings connected to their genealogy study. Walter admitted that she was moved by the experience. Walter explains that this is typical of Hendrix’s behavior, stating that “Elaine is very bold… she’ll just do stuff.”
“You wouldn’t think it by the cuteness,” she adds while giggling. “You wouldn’t think it by the cuteness.” “However, she is insane, and in comparison to her, I resemble Joe Pesci. I feel like a henchman who is questioning whether or not they are the lookout. What exactly is going on? Then all of a sudden she is there in the building.
But Walter adores this quality that her buddy has. Despite the fact that Hendrix values Walter’s “warmth.
