Chris Evans has tied the knot!
A source tells PEOPLE that the wedding took place on Saturday at a private house in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and that the actor, who is 42 years old, married Alba Baptista. Page Six of the New York Post was the first section to report on the news.
In addition to Evans’ Marvel costars Robert Downey Jr. and his wife, Susan Downey; Chris Hemsworth and his wife, Elsa Pataky; and Jeremy Renner; as well as John Krasinski and Emily Blunt; several of the couple’s prominent pals were sighted in neighboring Boston for the wedding.
On Saturday, photographs were taken of Hemsworth, Downey, their spouses, and Renner at the Contessa restaurant located inside the five-star Newbury Boston hotel. The group was seen eating and conversing with one another. A source claims that when Krasinski and Blunt were seen returning from the celebrations just after midnight on Saturday, “They were very happy, joking, and smiling.”
PEOPLE reached out to representatives for both Evans and Baptista, but neither of them responded right away to our request for comment.
In November 2022, PEOPLE revealed that the current “Sexiest Man Alive,” who was born and raised in Sudbury, Massachusetts, and the Portuguese actress, who was 26 at the time, had been dating “for over a year and it’s serious” for some time.
In addition, a source mentioned at the time said, “They are in love, and Chris has never been happier in his life.” His family and friends have nothing but praise for her.
Baptista, who is fluent in five languages and is the daughter of an engineer and a translator, is most known for her part in the Netflix series Warrior Nun. She also featured in the film Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris, which was released in 2022.
In 2018, she volunteered a significant portion of her time to an orphanage in Cambodia, where she mostly worked on educational programs. In addition, she was awarded the Shooting Star prize at the Berlin Film Festival in the year 2021.
To celebrate one of the most popular holidays of the year, Valentine’s Day, Evans posted a picture collage on social media that included him and the woman he was seeing at the time.
The actor who plays Captain America shared photos on his Instagram account showing the pair hiking and traveling together, engaging in some public displays of affection, and spending time with his dog Dodger.
Not long before that, Evans had published on his Instagram Story a video compilation of himself and Baptista frightening each other during the course of the previous year as they did laundry, went through doors, or just strolled by each other in the hallways of their respective homes.
The actor captioned the beginning of the video with the phrase “A look back at 2022.”
In the interview for the Sexiest Man Alive issue that was published a year ago, Evans said that he was “very content” with his life and that he was concentrating on maintaining a healthy work-life balance and spending time with his loved ones.
“That’s absolutely something I want: a wife, kids, and building a family,” the Ghosted star stated at the time.
“When you read about most of the finest artists, whether it’s actors, painters, or writers, most of them [admit] it wasn’t the work they did [that they are most proud of], it was about the connections; the families they established, the love they discovered, and the love they shared,” Evans added. “When you read about most of the best artists, whether it’s actors, painters, or writers.
Therefore, it is also something that, during the course of my lengthy 41 years, rings true. Those are the things that matter the most,” he went on to say. “I like the thought of having rituals and special occasions. I had a lot of it in my life, so the notion of generating more of that — I can’t think of anything greater than that.”
