After having a large facial tumor surgically removed, a mother was finally able to smile and accept her own attractiveness for the first time in eight years.
Because of the enormous lump that was growing inside of her mouth, the 27-year-old woman, who was only known by her first name, Yaya, had difficulty eating and speaking.
Because of the tumor, which covered her chin and extended down one side of her face, she was unable to leave the home without feeling extreme embarrassment.

She would only step outdoors and interact with potentially hostile individuals if she could completely conceal her face with a scarf. This was her sole defense mechanism.
Yaya, originally from Cameroon in Africa, had a surgery performed on her face by doctors aboard a charity ship, and now she is pleased with her ‘new’ appearance.

First time she discussed the outcomes of the life-altering treatment, she told the physicians, ‘I feel beautiful and joyful.’
Yaya, who had surgery performed on her by doctors working for the charitable organization Mercy Ships, said, “Since the surgery, I feel released.” It is much simpler to do everything.
