Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert have officially become husband and wife. On August 26, 20223, in a magnificent ceremony attended by 106 people in Monterey County, California, the couple were legally married and given the titles of husband and wife for the first time.
According to Hough, the festivities that led up to the wedding day began on August 24 with a welcoming party that was held at a spectacular cliffside house in Carmel. This venue was described as being one of the most gorgeous places in the world.
The day following the ceremony, there was a garden rehearsal supper, which was attended by members of the family. In addition to being a dinner, the event doubled as a wedding celebration, during which the couple’s relatives offered toasts to honor the newlyweds. Erbert was responsible for the planning of the sequence of activities, which included the day of the wedding, with the support of Simple Troy Lifestyle + activities.
The pair took part in both personal and customary vow exchanges throughout the ceremony, which was presided over by Hough’s sister-in-law. Erbert looked absolutely great in a bespoke duchess satin gown made by Georgina Chapman and purchased from Marchesa, while the groom looked absolutely wonderful in a suit by Tom Ford. She complemented the dress by accessorizing it with a blusher, a long veil, and jewelry designed by Ring Concierge.
The ceremony took place in the middle of a redwood grove, and the couple spoke their vows in front of a large tree that was encircled by many smaller trees. “They drop all the seeds, and it plants kind of like an army of children to protect the mother,” says Erbert. “They drop all the seeds.” It was a lovely act with profound significance. We’ve come here to sow the seeds for the future of our family.
Hough was able to pull off his plan to propose to Erbert in the comfort of their home, which left Erbert speechless. He dropped down on one knee and proposed to the young woman who was 28 years old.
Erbert went down the aisle, which was lined with pink roses, white delphinium, and ferns, to a one-of-a-kind performance of “Unconditional” by Richard Walters, which the singer penned and recorded just for this wedding. Under a floral arch, they exchanged vows that they had written themselves and then sealed the deal by exchanging wedding rings made by Paris Jewellers. Paris Jewellers was also responsible for creating the bride’s unique diamond engagement ring.
After the newlyweds exchanged a kiss to the tune of Mike Mains & the Branches’ “I Love You Always and Forever,” the guests walked to a location that the couple referred to as “The Hough Garden” for supper. Confetti showered down on the newlyweds during this intimate moment.
Erbert surprised her friends by arriving in a classic convertible while wearing a second outfit, which was a slinky dress with spaghetti straps and a tulle train. Following supper, the gathering was relocated to an ancient barn that had been outfitted with Signature chandeliers. It was here that the guests were treated to the couple’s first dance, and it was here that they continued to party the rest of the night away on the dance floor.
The couple’s wedding was said to have been breathtakingly gorgeous and wonderfully romantic by those who attended; in fact, it served as the ideal climax to the already stunning beginning of their love story.
Hough and Erbert first crossed paths in 2014, when Erbert joined the cast of Hough and his sister’s “Move Live Tour.” One year later, they began dating each other. After another seven years, in June of 2022, Hough popped the question to Erbert at their house, which he referred to as “the most special place” for them.
To convert their house into the ideal, personal environment for the 38-year-old to pop the question to Erbert, she completely redecorated it. He collaborated with the event coordinator, Troy Williams, to turn the couple’s living room into a sensual setting by adding 250 candles and 1600 flowers to the arrangement.
Williams continued by saying that Hough wanted the proposal to be the most romantic thing that had ever happened and a memorable occasion for the two of them. The dancer was aware that the fact that the couple had proposed to one another in their own house indicated that they were prepared to embark on the subsequent and most significant journey of their life in this location.
