People are horrified by the prospect of a girl of 10 years old being married, but what if the event was a touching gesture for a little girl who will never get the chance to experience the life she has always imagined? That is exactly what ended up occurring to Emma Edwards.

When Emma was in the same position as other children her age, they would have begged to go to Disneyland or to meet a well-known star, but all she wanted was to get married to her lover. The fact that they were both 10 years old was the source of the trouble. Her parents, Alina and Aaron Edwards, were struggling with a significant issue.

They were optimistic despite the fact that their little daughter was given a diagnosis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in April of 2022. Several months later, however, the physicians broke the heartbreaking news to them that Emma did not have much longer to live.

As a result, Little Emma’s parents and the community came together to make her dream wedding with her fiancé, Daniel Marshall Christopher Williams Junior, popularly known as DJ, a reality.

Because of the amount of attention that was drawn to both the event and Emma’s cause, the neighborhood came up with the moniker “Emma’s Army” and began working to make Emma’s dreams come true.

Chris Carter, who was formerly an announcer at Bowman Gray Stadium, took over as the event’s official organizer and made appearances on a number of programs in order to encourage people to take part. He made the statement that Emma is the same as any other female. She enjoys a good game. She enjoys being around other people, and she enjoys being outdoors.

The organizer claims that the way she was treated was really unpleasant. The “precious girl” would become worn out because things would sometimes seem to be improving, but then they would take a turn for the worst. However, he also detailed how hard she was battling and how resolute she was to make progress in her condition.

At long last, the Make-A-Wish Foundation came through with assistance for Emma, her family, and the whole community in order to grant their wish of attending Emma’s ideal wedding. Her mother said, “Most children want to go to Disneyland, but Emma wanted to get married, be a wife, and have three kids.”

The ceremony in question was not the first time that Emma and DJ attempted to tie the knot. When they were just eight years old, they attempted to hold their wedding at school when they were much younger. They had picked classmates to be in the wedding party as bridesmaids and groomsmen.

Even clip-on ties were provided by the lads in preparation for the wedding, which was to take place over the break. However, despite the fact that everyone thought it was adorable, their instructor would not let them do it. After Alina and DJ’s mother learned about the incident, they immediately came together to make plans for an event that might take place as soon as possible.

We managed to get everything together in less than two days, and in the end, everything was given. She went on to describe how “it was so priceless, and it came together so wonderfully.”

The occasion was captured on camera, and special interviews were conducted with a few of the guests as well as the groom himself. DJ was questioned on his first reactions upon seeing Emma. “I believed that she was the most gorgeous individual that I had ever seen. Since the beginning, I’ve had feelings for her,” he confessed to the camera.

They’ve been friends ever since they were in the third grade, which is equivalent to two years. DJ said that “it’s going to be an extremely memorable evening for all of us.” His most treasured memory of Emma is of the time when she sent the other children racing after him to interrogate him.

The young man said that he had no doubt that he would wed Emma two months after the conclusion of that academic year. “I remember thinking to myself, ‘I’m going to marry that girl someday.'” Right now, DJ said as he wrapped off the interview, “here we are today.”

The gratitude that Emma’s mother feels for DJ is just indescribable. She shared the news that her daughter only had a few days to live on Facebook along with the announcement that she and her fiance were getting married. She could not sing the young boy’s praises highly enough:

Since Emma was in the third grade, DJ has been her “Boo bear,” and believe me when I say that seeing these two young children interact will make your heart skip a beat. DJ shields her from harm, assists her, and fills her with hope and joy. She has feelings for him. And I’m sure that he feels the same way about her! He has been there for her through all of her successes and failures, and he has managed to keep her happy the entire while. DJ will always be a member of the family.

Emma’s cousin served as her maid of honor and was in charge of the ring on the day of the wedding, which took place on June 29. Emma’s parents pushed her wheelchair up the stairs as they entered the event with her. When her father pushed her down the aisle in her wheelchair while she was dressed in a stunning purple dress, she beamed at him and grinned the whole way.

Aaron remained by her side during the whole of the ceremony, and DJ beamed triumphantly next to them both. The officiant was the most encouraging person for the task, calling the bride lovely and stating that her presence improves the world.

He expressed his appreciation to the children for “teaching us all” about love. During the ceremony, one of Emma’s friends read a chapter from the Bible, and then it was finally time to say “I do.”

They then exchanged rings, and DJ, following the words of the officiant, made a promise to Emma about his love for her. Emma, despite her frailty, repeated her vows to her fiancé over and over again. At long last, DJ leaned in to give the bride a passionate kiss just before the ceremony was through, which caused the blushing new bride to break into a wide grin.

They snapped photographs despite the fact that Emma had to be rushed back to her bed to rest, and both families seemed pleased with the outcome of the occasion. The day went considerably more smoothly thanks to DJ’s infectious smile and positive attitude.

Aline was especially pleased of that day since Emma had previously been a “social butterfly,” but cancer patients are often sequestered in their homes. The little girl even declined to take pain medication in order to prevent dozing off during the event. In addition, Emma passed away on July 11th, 2023. Her death notice stated:

“On July 11, 2023, Emma Brooks Edwards passed away and went to be with her Great-grandmother Frannie Annie in heaven. She was surrounded by those who loved her the most at the time of her passing.” Emma was 10 years old when she was diagnosed with leukemia and fought against “the imposter” for 16 months. On April 22, 2013, our little unicorn Emma joined her doting parents and three older siblings to complete the Edwards family. Emma is known as “our little unicorn.” She had a deep passion for Jesus, her newlywed “husband,” DJ, as well as arts and crafts, practical jokes, her family, and her friends. Emma shone as a beacon for everyone who cared for her and served as a model for everyone she came in contact with. She was an incredible daughter, sister, grandchild, niece, cousin, aunt, “wife,” hehe, and friend. She was simply the greatest at whatever she did. Her legacy will be remembered as one of fortitude, humor, and love that has no bounds for all people.

Her family, including her parents, Michael, Aaron, and Hailee, will miss her tremendously, but they are all grateful that she was able to grant DJ’s desire and live out her lifelong dream.
