Britney Spears is receiving support from Pink as she goes through the difficult process of divorcing Sam Asghari.
Pink decided to express some love to Britney Spears by changing the words of her song “Don’t Let Me Get Me” when she was on the Detroit leg of her Summer Carnival tour. Pink states in the original version of the song that she is sick of being compared to Spears and that it bothers her.
She performed, “Sweet Britney Spears,” rather than the song “Tired of being compared to damn Britney Spears.”
The remainder of the lyric is sung as follows: “She’s so pretty / That just ain’t me.”
As soon as they heard the new lyrics, the crowd let out an enthusiastic “aww,” indicating that they approved of the change very much.
Pink told People that she has always felt like a big sister to the “Sometimes” singer, despite the fact that the song was widely perceived to be a dig to Spears for a long time.
Pink said to the source that she had “always felt like a big sister to her” at the time that she made this statement. “People think I was picking on Britney on ‘Don’t Let Me Get Me,’ but I’ve always felt like a big sister to her,” Pink said at the time. “She is the kindest individual in the entire world, and I take great care to guard her,” I said.
The display of solidarity comes on the heels of the report that Spears and Asghari have chosen to end their marriage after just one year of being married.
Asghari filed for divorce on August 16, only a few hours after word leaked that the couple had separated, according to an exclusive report obtained by ET. After an altercation over infidelity, the pop diva and her longtime partner are said to have decided to end their relationship, as stated by TMZ, which was the first media outlet to announce the breakup.
Spears and Asghari, according to a source who spoke to ET, “have had issues on and off as a couple since before they were married.”
“Their issues have a tendency to get worse when they are away from each other and spending time apart,” the insider went on to say. “There are moments when Britney gets the impression that Sam isn’t putting her needs first in his priorities. Their disagreements have caused them to experience periods of dissatisfaction inside their partnership. They are also on different pages with regard to their future together, which has been a source of tension between them.
ET was informed by a source who confirmed the breakup that Spears was “adamant” about the fact that she did not cheat on Asghari throughout their relationship. “The two haven’t gotten along for a while, and it finally came to an end after a major blowup,” the insider said further.
While this was going on, a third insider said that “Sam feels like he has gone above and beyond to support Britney and be there for her and it is never enough.”
Asghari has also rejected tabloid allegations that the actor has supposedly threatened to expose humiliating information or materials about Spears unless concessions are made in their prenuptial agreement that would enable Asghari to gain more money out of the divorce. These reports were based on an alleged threat that the actor allegedly made.
ET was given the following statement by a representative for Asghari: “There are numerous reports that Sam is fighting the prenup and threatening to exploit his ex-wife with footage. All of these assertions, however, are not true.
The representative for Asghari further said that “no negative intention has ever been directed towards her and there never will be,” “Sam has always supported her, and he will continue to do so in the future.”
