Denzel Washington, a Hollywood superstar, first saw Dakota Fanning perform in front of the camera with him in the film Man on Fire in 2004, but he has been impressed by her ever since. She was not even 10 years old at the time.
In a behind-the-scenes look of The Equalizer 3 that was done by ET, Washington gushes over Fanning, saying that she “knows how to hit the ball back over the net.” The only thing that can stop her is the sky.
The Academy Award winner said that starring alongside Fanning as an adult this time around was a rather odd experience for him. The two will be seen together again in the forthcoming third episode of Washington’s action series.
‘Cause I’m like, ‘Oh she’s a mature lady,'” he added, “It felt funny because I’m like, ‘Oh she’s a grown woman.'” “Back then, she was already acting like a mature lady, but today she is an actual grown woman. Also, it’s very evident that they have a lot of skill… It wasn’t too weird, considering that she was the one who was delivering it,”
Equalizer 3 is the first time in over 20 years that the two actors have been on film together. However, Washington has claimed that the duo has “vicariously” maintained in contact since Fanning is friends with one of his kids from their time spent together at New York University.
“I’ve obviously, you know, known Denzel for a big part of my life, and one of his daughters is one of my closest friends, so I’m always in the loop,” the actress revealed with the audience member.
Regarding the actors’ subsequent collaboration, Fanning said, “There is definitely not anyone better to go up against than Denzel.”
She went on to say, “It’s been almost 20 years, and I was quite young [in Man on Fire], but that’s not an experience that one forgets,” “When it came to the second time, I did feel the same, as in, my body experienced the same emotion that I recalled having all those years before, which was excitement mixed with a little bit of nervousness and the want to be as prepared as possible. He is undeniably an actor that never ceases to surprise you in the most unexpected ways.
In a recent interview with ET, Fanning described meeting up with Washington again on screen after their brief encounter while shooting in Italy as a “dream come true.”
She went on to say this in an ET behind-the-scenes look, “He has always been so good to me and kind to me, and I feel such a connection to him because he’s known me for so long,” “It is most people’s dream to get to work with him once, so for me to get to work with him twice at different stages in my life is a real treat,” said the man. “It’s a real treat.”
Robert McCall, played by Denzel Washington, is a former Marine and DIA officer in The Equalizer 3, and he is attempting to escape his violent past by moving to Southern Italy. The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua, who has worked extensively with Washington over the years. However, when some of his former foes find him down, McCall is compelled to recall his violent past.
“He got addicted to so-called justice and crossed the line to unnecessary violence,” the actor said of his character’s background as a vigilante. “He crossed the line to unnecessary violence.” “He pays a price, and the manner that he pays is the most unconventional way possible. He has to look at himself in the mirror, and he has to look at his own heart, and I don’t believe he is satisfied with what he sees in either of those places.
He continued by saying that “every saint has a past and every sinner has a future,” and that “he has, as we all have, sinned extensively.” “It’s about him opening his heart and about him not being redeemed, but hopefully being saved,” says the speaker.
