Donna Mills has only ever been in a committed relationship with one other person, and that was Richard Holland. He was a writer, a producer, a rock guitarist, and many other things in addition to those. He wore many hats.
Before finally parting ways, the couple had spent many years together as a couple. Mills did not feel the need to change who she was or where she was since she was pleased with both aspects of her life.
In 1983, after dating Holland for half a decade, Mills, then 37 years old, gave an interview in which she discussed her outlook on her relationship status as a woman who is happily single and not married. The actress said the following:
“I don’t see any more security in being married than I do in not being married.”
The fact that the two lived in separate homes is evidence of their non-committal yet significant connection with one another. Nevertheless, Mills acknowledged that there was a specific moment in time when the two were virtually cohabitating with one another.

After her breakup with Holland, the actress chose to put her attention not on new love prospects but rather on advancing her profession. She said that she did not have any objections to having children; nonetheless, her concentration on moving up the professional ladder prevented her from doing so. To quote her directly, she stated:
“At one point in my life, I was extremely focused on my career, but after a while, I came to the realization that there was something missing — it was a child.”
Mills revealed that when she was in her fifties, she started to identify the heights of her baby fever after she had accomplished a number of her undertakings. At that time, she realized that she was ready to start a family. The actress reflected on her feelings of resentment against other moms and the love relationships they had with their kids.
Mills adopted a baby girl, whom she later called Chloe, when she was 54 years old, despite the worried replies she received considering the baby’s age at the time. She was able to recall:
“At that point in time, I was 54 years old, and people said things like, ‘You’re going to be so old [to have a little toddler running around.'” That was never how I felt. I never once felt my age compared to the other moms, who were probably in their 20s at the time.

She also discussed the responses she had received to her decision to adopt a kid of a different race, noting that no one in her life had spoken any comments regarding the matter. However, the attentive mother did make the decision to become a member of an organization that assisted her in addressing potential problems, such as taking care of Chloe’s hair.
Mills not only justifies the decision to have a kid at such an advanced age, but she also encourages other people to do likewise.
Because of how much money Mills had accumulated over her successful career, she made the decision to devote herself totally to parenting once she gave birth to Chloe. In point of fact, when she was at the pinnacle of her career, she decided to put her professional life on hold in order to focus on raising Chloe. The actress reminisced as follows:
“Becoming a mother was the only thing I wanted to do in my life, so for the past 18 years, I’ve pretty much stopped doing everything else.”
She said that she continued to work in the film business even in the early phases of her role as a mother, but that once her daughter started school, she made being a mom her first priority.
Mills not only justifies the decision to have a kid at such an advanced age, but she also encourages other people to do likewise. She said that it is a wonderful opportunity for those who want to establish themselves professionally first and that the timing is great.
According to the doting mother, she has managed to keep up a strong connection with her daughter by ensuring that they spend enough of quality time together and remain in frequent communication.
Mills continues to challenge conventional wisdom about aging by steadfastly refusing to follow the route of cosmetic treatments. She makes no apologies for her stance.
In spite of becoming 82 years old and the fact that her daughter is now 28, Mills has not let her age become a problem in her life. She is set to appear in the next film “Dawn,” and she has just recently posted a shot from the film on her Instagram account. In the photo, her hair is shorter and she has gray streaks in it. She put the following in the caption:
“I’ve heard that blondes have more laughs…However, I’m really into this white; what do you think about it?”
This photograph does a wonderful job of capturing a fearless lady who has a positive attitude about growing older, and the text that accompanies it hints at this novel way of looking at life.
The comment section was full with people praising Mills for the beautiful photo she had posted. One of the commenters said that the actress would look good with whatever hair color, while two others proclaimed that she is “beautiful no matter what.” One of the followers reacted, saying:
“It really brings out the beauty in your eyes and makes them stand out even more than they already do!”
Instagram user _maid_to_the_stars said that Mills had not aged a day, while another user said that the singer and mother resembled a “angel” and was “stunningly beautiful.” Both of these comments were posted on the same photo of Mills. A little more than 8000 people have shown support for the post thus far.

Mills continues to defy aging norms as she unapologetically refuses to go down the path of cosmetic enhancements or plastic surgery.
Commenting on this, she spoke about someone asking why she hasn’t considered cosmetic enhancements, with the actress confidently responding: “No, because I’m not going to look like a duck. I’d rather have lines than a duck bill.”
Another actress who recently challenged societal expectations regarding age is “Big Bang” alum Mayim Bialik who was unafraid to show off her gray hair online.
