Kelly Ripa conducted an interview with her coworkers as they were participating in a strenuous physical test. On the edition of Live With Kelly and Mark that aired on Wednesday, Ripa observed as her co-host and husband, Mark Consuelos, as well as the show’s executive producer, Michael Gelman, submerged themselves in an ice bath for a period of six minutes.
Following Dr. Jonathan Leary’s presentation at Remedy Place, in which he discussed the health advantages of taking a cold plunge, both Consuelos and Gelman quickly changed into their swimsuits and dove headfirst into their separate cold water pools.
While they were sitting next to one another, Consuelos at one point attempted to grab Gelman’s hand. Ripa tried to join in on the fun, but Gelman comically pushed her away as she got closer to join in on the action.
“Gelman, do you have anything that you would like to share with us?” She inquired about it with the producer, who gave a snide response of, “Ahhhh.”
Concerning how Consuelos was doing, he reported to his wife, “I feel fine. I feel good. It’s all in the legs; the legs are where the action is. I would describe it as a really intense sensation.”
Ripa stepped over to chat to the crowd as soon as the broadcast broke to commercial, making a joke about how “Mark looks perfectly normal and Gelman looks like he’s suffering.” When the show returned, Ripa continued her monologue.
In spite of the discomfort, both Consuelos and Gelman were able to make it over the six-minute mark, and as a token of her appreciation for their hard work, Ripa served them each a hot dog.
In April, Consuelos replaced Ryan Seacrest as the host of the show so that she could co-host with Seacrest’s wife. When ET talked to the pair two months into their new working relationship, they both raved about how much they were enjoying working on the program together.
Consuelos gushed over his wife, saying, “I get to work with someone who’s the best in the business,” referring to his wife. “I’m having so much fun meeting the actors or the performers that come on that I’ve always been a big fan of and I get to work with someone who’s the best in the business,” he said.
When it came to her spouse, Ripa was just as kind, telling ET, “He really brings such joy to us.” Not only me on a personal level, as his wife, but also in my capacity as an employee here. All of our producers, including those who have known Mark for the last 23 years and worked with him, have always cherished him… While working with Mark, though, everyone has the impression that they are extremely well protected. Because he is so irreverent, he fits in really well with what we do around here, and he has a solid grasp of the task at hand. It has been nothing but a pleasure to see him take control and, in a sense, make it his own.
