Matt Damon says that his long-term relationship with Luciana Barroso is the reason he was able to get through a difficult period in his professional life.

“Without naming any particular movies, sometimes you find yourself in a movie that you know, perhaps, might not be what you had hoped it would be, and you’re still making it,” the 52-year-old actor who plays Oppenheimer stated of his experience in a recent interview with Jake’s Takes. “Without naming any particular movies,” he continued, “you’re still making it.”

“And I remember halfway through production and you’ve still got months to go and you’ve taken your family somewhere, you know, and you’ve inconvenienced them.”

Damon noted that his wife of 18 years had told him, ” ‘We’re here now,’ ” which helped him put the effort into perspective.

“I do take pleasure in myself for being a professional actress, and a big reason for that is because of her. “And what it means to be a professional actor is that you go and you do the 15-hour day and give it absolutely everything, even in what you know is going to be a losing effort,” he continued. “And that’s what being a professional actor means.” “You’ve got to be a pro if you can pull it off while maintaining the most positive attitude. And I couldn’t have done it without her assistance.”

Damon and Barroso, who were married in 2005, celebrated the 20th anniversary of the first time they met earlier this year, which marked a significant milestone in their relationship.

In 2003, when Damon paid Barroso, now 46, a visit at the bar where she had previously worked, sparks immediately started to fly between the two of them.

After dating for two years, the pair finally got married in a small, intimate ceremony in New York City. They now have three kids together: Isabella (16), Gia (14), and Stella (12). In addition, Barroso is the father of a daughter by the name of Alexia, who is now 24 years old.

In an interview that she gave to Vogue Australia in 2018, Barroso reflected on the time when she first laid eyes on her future husband.

“There’s no doubt that we hit it off straight immediately; we had no trouble conversing with one another at all. “By the time the night was over, we had reached a point where we were very at ease [with each other], and he invited me to go out with his friends,” she said with the publication. “But I was like, ‘I can’t, I have a 4-year-old daughter, I’m not going anywhere’… ”

The conversation proceeded with Barroso saying, “He said, ‘I love that you’re a mom and that’s your priority.'” It’s possible that other males were different, and that they thought it was a tough situation, but for him, it wasn’t.

Recently, Damon and his wife took a trip to the popular tourist destination of Mykonos in Greece. While there, they were joined by several of their celebrity friends, including Chris and Liam Hemsworth.

The actor from Air seemed to be having the time of his life in one series of images as he danced like a cowboy and made lasso moves at his wife as the Hemsworth brothers looked on and smiled.

A few days later, Damon and his wife were spotted having a day full with public displays of affection during an expedition to Paraga Beach. The actor was seen kissing Barroso’s tummy as she put her arms around his shoulders.

At the premiere of Oppenheimer that took place in Paris on Tuesday of this week, Matt Damon was accompanied by three of his and his wife’s four daughters: Stella, Gia, and Alexia.
