Toast was one of 16 kittens who were saved from a household in Memphis, Tennessee, by Angels Among Us Animal Rescue. When Toast initially came in her foster home, she was in poor condition since she had been neglected for a long time.
“Her eyes were almost completely crusted over, and she was the smallest out of all of them, about half their size,” Hannah Taff, Toast’s foster mom, said in an interview with The Dodo. “She was the smallest out of all of them, about half their size.” “She had a hard time even walking around.”
Toast’s condition improved dramatically over the course of the next weeks, but at the same time, odd things started to take place. The more she recovered, the stranger she seemed to be. Toast, at first glance, seemed to be a typical kitten, much like the other kittens who had been rescued with her at the same time. Then, out of nowhere, her fur began to grow in a very untamed manner.
Toast always seems to have the appearance of having emerged from the longest slumber ever taken, despite the fact that she never really does. It doesn’t matter how frequently she goes to the salon, she always appears unkempt, and the revelation that this is the case has baffled everyone who is familiar with her.
According to Taff, “She does get washed and brushed every single day.” “A lot of people thought that all she needed was a bath to return to her normal appearance, but NOPE, she’s just special!”
Of course, Toast doesn’t seem to be aware that she stands apart from the rest of her classmates in any significant way. She has a personality that is bigger than life, and even if people are first put off by her looks, she has no trouble winning them over in a short period of time.
“They almost always say, ‘She’s so ugly she’s cute,’ which is true,” Taff added. “She is so ugly that she is cute.” However, the reason why everyone falls in love with her is because of her incredible personality.
Toast does, in fact, suffer from some eye issues, which her foster mother is vigilant about monitoring and attempting to determine the cause of. Toast is a relatively carefree kitty in every other respect. She shouts a lot, has not yet learned the art of using the restroom without making a mess, is really into parkour, and couldn’t care less about how she presents herself. Even though she seems to be dozing, she is, in fact, a jolly good time.
