How do you respond if you come across a pit bull? Do you run in fear? Do you make your way to the opposite side of the road so that you can escape?
You are not the only one, but your assumption regarding the breed is incorrect! As with any other breed of dog, pit bulls, like any other canine, are not naturally aggressive unless they have been taught otherwise.

Apollo, a pit bull, was treated in a regularly disrespectful manner at the shelter. People had the impression that he was a violent dog.

Apollo was fortunate enough to find a home and is now employed. A police K9 canine trainer brought Apollo to the shelter so that the shelter could evaluate him, and the shelter agreed to take him in. Apollo’s eagerness to please made him a good candidate for the role of police dog, and it paid off when he was hired.

Again the next year, K9 handlers did not choose Apollo for the position. It would appear that the handsome dog will have a difficult time accomplishing his goal of discovering his place in the world. It was another member of his own kind that had acted treacherously toward him. In November of the previous year, Apollo successfully finished his training as a narcotics dog and finished first in his class.
When you next come across a pit bull, you shouldn’t feel threatened or intimidated by it. The vast majority of pit bulls are similar to other types of dogs in every way. If the person on the other end of the leash is friendly, the pit bull is likely to be an enormous sweetheart.
