The moment that Kevin, a mixed red heeler who is now 8 years old, met Alexandra Petri, his new mom, his whole life was turned upside down. Kevin was originally saved in Tennessee, but he eventually made his way all the way to New York City, where he was met with an unforeseen experience.
Petri was excited to start a new chapter in her life with her new puppy and accepted it with open arms. However, Kevin needed to take a shower beforehand.
According to a tweet sent by Petri, “We went to a self-wash place downtown for a bath, and he was so good, so I got him a toy,” “He carried it all the way home, including on the bus,” said the narrator.
The moment Kevin saw his new toy and house, he fell in love with both of them instantly. As the weeks went, Kevin became more comfortable in, and his collection of toys continued to grow.
Kevin and his mother fell into a rhythm during the course of their time together that involved going on brisk strolls all around the city. Every journey that Kevin went on began with him holding a toy in his mouth, just as he did on the first day he returned home.
“After a couple of days together, he started bringing toys out on his walks,” Petri said on Twitter. “It’s his signature everywhere in our community…”
Kevin, ever since he moved to the city, is almost never seen without a toy in his mouth whenever he is out and about. Some people would find the sights and noises overpowering, but Kevin is often unmoved by things like that. The adorable canine cheerfully takes everything in while contentedly chewing on a cuddly plush toy.
The wagging of Kevin’s tail helps push him across the city, where he meets new people and enjoys life to the fullest while keeping his most treasured objects close by his side.
Toys like a blue hippopotamus, a lamb, a frog, and a bouquet of flowers wrapped in newspaper are among Kevin’s collection of playthings. The well-behaved youngster is quick to grab a plaything before hurriedly making his way to the front door as soon as he is aware that it is time to go outdoors.
Petri said on Twitter that “He does have some favorites, but it’s impossible for me to predict which one he’ll grab.” “I am always taken aback by him!”
Even when he’s not among the hustle and bustle of the city, Kevin still finds it more relaxing to stroll with a plushie.
“He’s done it too when we’ve taken trips outside of the city,” Petri wrote in her journal entry. When I get home after being away, he also gives me a toy to play with.
Because of the impracticality of the situation, Kevin is finally forced to let go of the toy as he is walking, but fortunately, his mother is always there to pick it up and carry it the rest of the way home for him.
It is difficult to imagine what Kevin’s life was like before he came to the big city, but there is no doubt that he is making the most of his life right now. His mother’s feelings for her adorable son continue to deepen as he broadens his horizons and his preoccupation with stuffed animals expands.
