Charlie Puth recommends that concertgoers sing and dance in the audience rather than disrupting the performance of the artist on stage.

Following incidents at recent performances in which singers Bebe Rexha, Ava Max, and Kelsea Ballerini were each struck in the face by objects, the singer-songwriter of “Light Switch” took to Twitter to discuss his feelings over the tragic occurrence.

‘This tendency of throwing items at performers while they are on stage must come to a stop,’ Puth, who is now 31 years old, wrote on Thursday, calling out the three musicians. “It’s such a rude act, and it puts people in harm’s way. I ask you, please take some time to appreciate the song.

Ballerini was injured by an item that was thrown from the audience earlier this week as she was singing her song “If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down Too)” at Outlaw Field at the Idaho Botanical Garden in Boise, Idaho.

A video of the event shows the country artist, who is 29 years old, instantly turning away from the audience and having a brief talk with her fiddle player before exiting the stage. She returned to the gathering after taking a little break, at which point she approached everyone and said, “Can we just talk about what happened?”

“The only thing that concerns me is ensuring the safety of everyone. Please be sure to tell someone around you if you ever have any concerns about your safety. “Just always flag it, especially if anyone is pushing too much or if you just have that gut feeling,” the actress went on to say.

Ballerini, who is now performing on the third leg of the Heartfirst tour that she is headlining, continued, “Don’t throw stuff. Do you know?
On Thursday morning, the country singer shared a message on her Instagram Story in which she said, “Hi. I’m fine. When someone threw a bracelet at me, it struck me in the eye, but rather than injuring me, it frightened me more than anything else. We all have triggers and layers of concerns that are much deeper than what is visible, and that is why I stepped offstage to cool myself and make sure that myself, the band, the crew, and the audience all felt comfortable to continue.

Her incident followed a previous one in which Rexha, 33, was hurt when a mobile phone hit her in the face and smacked her when she was performing in New York City earlier this month. The performer known for the song “I’m Good (Blue)” was thrown to the ground during a performance when a member of the audience named Nicolas Malvanga hurled a phone at her forehead in the midst of a song, causing a split in her eyebrow that required stitches.

According to information provided to PEOPLE by the New York District Attorney’s Office, the New Jersey citizen, who is 27 years old, was taken into custody on several misdemeanor charges, including two instances of third degree assault, second degree aggravated harassment, third degree attempted assault, and second degree harassment.

Malvanga was brought into arrest, admitting to tossing the phone, and told police, “I was trying to see if I could hit her with the phone at the end of the show because I thought it would be funny.” This is according to the criminal complaint.

The next time he will appear in court is on July 31. “Nicolas, like many other fans, was hoping to interact in some way with Ms. Rexha as the phone was returned,” the assailant’s attorney, Todd Spodek, said in a statement to PEOPLE at the time. It was never in any way his purpose to do Ms. Rexha any kind of bodily harm.

In a separate incident, Max, who is 29 years old, was slapped by a concertgoer in the middle of her performance at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, which is the stop on her current tour. According to footage that were filmed by fans and published on social media, she was in the middle of performing her famous song “The Motto” when an audience member rushed the stage.

Even after security tried to pull him back, he lunged out with his arm and hit the performer across the face. She proceeded to dance for a little more and then said farewell to the audience before leaving the stage.

Later, after the event, Max explained the injuries in detail on Twitter, stressing that the person who attacked her would not be allowed into any of her next shows.

“He struck me with such force that he scraped the membrane that lines the inside of my eye. “He won’t be attending another show of mine,” she stated in the email. “Thank you to the fans for being spectacular tonight in Los Angeles though!!”
