“I completely underestimated the fact that we were moving into territory that was held by white heterosexual males,” the speaker said. They found this offensive and accused us of anything from promoting murder and suicide to all sorts of other things.
What Saradon and Davis believed would be a breath of new air for the public was instead received with a barrage of criticism, the majority of which came from male audiences and reviewers. “It didn’t seem like a huge issue, but it did seem odd that there would be a lady in a movie that you could get along with and call a friend.
