A few days ago, a lady in Medelln, Colombia, was on her way to her neighborhood grocery shop when she saw a solitary dog standing in front of the door. At first, I didn’t think anything remarkable about this; the business has a designated “pet parking” space out front, which is where customers often temporarily leave their dogs while they go inside. But when Christina Farley got closer to the puppy, she quickly realized that the circumstances surrounding this encounter were not the same as others.

This canine did not have a collar or a leash on it like the other canines that she had seen in the area designated for pet parking. And it was obvious that she felt not at ease.

“She was just staring out at the street, frozen,” Farley told The Dodo of her friend. “She refused to shift even an inch from that spot.”

We began to suspect that she had simply been abandoned there,” Farley said.

Although Farley and a member of the staff at the business had prepared food and water for the dog, she refused to interact with it.

“She wouldn’t eat or drink, and she wouldn’t explore around,” said Farley. “It was very concerning.” You couldn’t entice her in any way, shape, or form.

The group of people who were attempting to be good Samaritans phoned every animal shelter that they could locate as they were trying to get the dog to eat. Unfortunately, there was not enough room in any of the shelters. Even after almost three hours of everyone attempting to aid her, the dog remained immobilized in terror and had no way to escape the situation.

In the end, a young lady passed by, and after listening to the dog’s plight, she volunteered to temporarily foster the animal. Even though the lady couldn’t keep the dog permanently, she was willing to provide temporary housing for her so that the animal might be adopted by a loving family.

The fact that the dog continued to be immobile was the only issue that remained.

An additional lady who was out walking with her tiny dog at the time overheard the talk between the two people who were trying to help the stray dog and suggested a solution: she would remove the harness from her own dog and place it on the stray dog.

The behavior of the stray dog drastically altered the moment the harness was fastened around her neck.

“Instantly, her tail started wagging, and she immediately walked with us,” Farley recalled. “It was as if she had known us forever.” “That was an odd occurrence. That’s how we were able to tell for certain that she was a house dog.”
