In the spring of 2019, Lilia Bachinskaya, a lady who is now in her 44th year, learned that she was pregnant once again. She was already the mother of three boys, but she and her husband Anatoly hoped to have a girl.
The news that Lilia was having Siamese twins was confirmed for Anatoly and her during the course of an ultrasound.

Due to the fact that the infants’ heads were joined together, the physicians recommended against trying to separate them.
Lilia made the decision to carry the pregnancy to term despite the obstacles she faced because she was certain that everything would work out in the end.

Still attached at the head at the time of their birth on December 30th, 2019, twin daughters Abigail and Mikaela (nicknamed Abi and Mika) entered the world.
However, additional investigation found that the regions of their brains that were shared were restricted, offering optimism that they would be able to successfully separate.

The treatment to separate the twins was scheduled to take place in October 2020 at a children’s facility in California. The preparations for the procedure started immediately after the birth of the twins, and after nine months of preparing, the operation took place.

It took a team of thirty doctors and twenty-four hours of hard labor to successfully separate the girls, and both of them emerged from the ordeal in good health. The surgical procedure provided the identical twins with a fresh start in life.
During the approximately six months that it took the youngsters to acclimate to their new surroundings, Lilia stayed in the clinic with the children.

Abi and Mika are doing well in today’s day and age, approximately two years after their separation. They are now a step behind in terms of development but are making up ground fast.
Even though the girls still have a few more cosmetic treatments in their future, the physicians are sure that in a few years, it will be difficult for them to remember that they were formerly linked as conjoined twins.
In addition, towards the tail end of the previous year, Lilia successfully delivered a second child, a healthy boy who was given the name Adam.

The choice that Lilia made to carry the pregnancy to term in spite of the recommendations of the medical professionals was ultimately successful.
