On the Prime Video series Jack Ryan, which John Krasinski starred in and portrayed as the title character, the actor is now concluding his run after four critically praised seasons of spying, fighting, and saving the world.
Recently, Krasinski, along with two of his co-stars on the show, Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly, sat down with ET’s Will Marfuggi and discussed how to finish the successful show on a positive note with ET’s Will Marfuggi.
When John Krasinski was asked how he felt about having to say goodbye to his longtime co-stars, he became a little tearful and joked, “See? You are going to bring tears to my eyes at this very moment. Why on earth would you choose to do that?
“If I’m going to be really open and honest with you, the entire thing has seemed weird. “Because, when I was a kid, Jack Ryan was my favorite character in the books and the movies,” Krasinski added, “and the fact that I got to play him for five minutes, let alone for five years, is amazing.”
“It really is true when everybody says that it takes a huge group of people to make anything, but to make something good it takes a huge group of talented people,” Krasinski remarked. “So, we had the best crew, writers, and producers, and then we got this cast! On this program, we succeeded in forming a real-life family.”
“These guys are completely involved in my life,” he went on to say. “Not only as coworkers, but as actual family members, and that is without a doubt the most heartbreaking aspect of the decision to leave,”
Krasinski’s emotions were mirrored by Kelly, who said, “I’m going to miss it a lot, but this is incredible and it’s very rare, and so I feel incredibly grateful for what we have accomplished and what we’ll have going forward.”
It is a very meaningful experience for Pierce to have the opportunity to tell the tale in the way that they believe it should be told and to conclude their career on their own terms.
“Oh boy, I really hope that so!” After citing the 2014 science fiction epic Edge of Tomorrow starring his wife Emily Blunt as an example of just one of his wife’s lasting contributions to the action genre, Krasinski grinned with pride.
“If you do pitch it to her, let me know what she says,” he said with a giggle.
