It was fortunate for this little sea otter pup that after being separated from his mother off the coast of California, he found himself in the capable hands of qualified specialists who could provide him with the care he needed.

The mother of the puppy, on the other hand, had no way of knowing what was going to happen or that everything would be okay in a short amount of time.

According to the Office of Spill Prevention and Response (OSPR) of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, which is an organization that specializes in the preservation of sea otters, early efforts to reconnect the youngster with his mom from the beach were unsuccessful.

As a result of this, and due to the fact that they were aware of her general position within the seas around them, the OSPR crew decided to set sail with the dog in tow.

At that same moment, the anxious mother, who was sailing by herself, unexpectedly heard a voice she recognized.

“The mother immediately responded to the pup’s vocalizations and eagerly reclaimed her pup,” the OSPR said.

Indeed, in the blink of an eye, the puppy’s mother snatched him up and took him away to a place of relative safety. When one of the OSPR team saw the two of them being reunited in such a heartwarming way, they couldn’t help but give out a “aww.”

Not only did this successful reunion bring a family back together, but it also assisted in serving as training for a team from OSPR, whose goal it is to safeguard these endangered creatures in the case of an ecological calamity.

According to a statement made by a spokeswoman for the OSPR  “these types of operations are good in that they improve readiness for assisting sea otters during oil spills.”
