Bear’s life hasn’t always been easy. After wandering the streets of Texas as a stray, the gentle dog found himself on a shelter’s euthanasia list.
It seemed like Bear had given up. Then, he got the news that saved his life — and it came in the nick of time.
Since the 11-year-old canine arrived at the BARC Animal Shelter in June, there have been no prospective adopters interested in taking him home, and this has started to take its toll on him. It seemed as if the gentle elderly man had given up hope and was aware that the time was ticking since he stopped lifting his head from his bed.
Madeline Garvis, a BARC volunteer, was quoted as saying to The Dodo that “He was one of 28 lives to be euthanized that day.” It’s inconceivable that a dog like him would end up on the list of those to be put down. His demeanor is ideal in every way, and I don’t say that flippantly – he exudes peace and friendliness.”
When Garvis let Bear out of his kennel, he found that he had an altogether different disposition than before.
“We found a dog who instantly knew how to shake, who loved being outside, and who loved love,” Garvis added. ”
According to Garvis, “We have such limited opportunities to meet the dogs and see how they behave outside, which is clearly so different as evidenced by Bear.” “We have such limited opportunities to meet the dogs and see how they behave outside.” “I don’t think there’s anything negative to say about Bear. He walks on a leash that is so loose that it is virtually coming off of him, knows how to sit and shake, and he does not have heartworm. He is a good leash walker, and he is quiet.
The very well-behaved canine won everyone’s hearts very fast. Before Bear’s stay at the shelter drew to an end, Garvis was adamant about finding him a new family to adopt him.
“What are you trying to pull over me with those eyes?! Garvis posted those words on Facebook at the moment. “I love him.” “The moment we stepped outside, he looked at least five years younger!”
Exhibiting Bear’s genuine personality in settings other than the shelter was successful. Bear was able to find a home for the rest of his life only one hour before his planned euthanasia. The rescued animal is now living the life he has always dreamed of leading, one that is full of hope, love, and more time.
