The lives of Madison Best and her family have been made much more joyful than they otherwise would have been on a daily basis throughout the course of the previous 12 years.
That’s because well over a decade ago, they took in a lovely dog whose name was Dixie, and she quickly became a member of the family.
“She’s been with me and by my side through all of the good times and the bad,” Best said in an interview with The Dodo. “She has always been the finest person for the children to snuggle with and play with. Our two eldest girls have matured with her throughout their childhood.
But Dixie and her family have more in common than simply a lifetime’s worth of joyful recollections today.
Due to the fact that Dixie is an elderly dog, the yellow color of her fur has started to become white in certain spots. However, there is one little trait that has not altered them a bit about her appearance since she was a young puppy.
A very small patch of brown fur may be seen on the back of Dixie’s paw. Appropriately, it takes the form of a little heart.
“It’s the only mark she has on her,” said Best.
Best had been considering how lovely it would be to celebrate Dixie in some manner, but it wasn’t until her daughter’s birthday that she finally got the idea she needed. She had thought that now that she had reached the appropriate age, she would be able to have her first tattoo, the topic of which was something that was very important to the whole family.
We came to the conclusion that getting a tattoo of Dixie’s heart would be the best option. Best stated.
Because of how well the tattoo came out, Best and her other daughter opted to have matching tattoos on their “paws” as well.
It was the kindest thing they could do to remember the dog that they love so deeply.
“She’s our best girl,” Best said of the other woman. “We are so proud to finally match her little heart,” the happy couple said.
Dixie has made an unforgettable impression on both the inside and outside of her family just by being the kind person that she is. It is only appropriate for Best to do so.
“Everyone says they have the greatest damn dog,” she added.
