On Wednesday, when employees of the Forsyth County Animal Shelter arrived to their place of employment, they saw something that is not something they often see. They were greeted by two canines, each housed in their own kennel, along with a message that was penned and waiting for them outside the facility.
The message said, “Take good care of them,” therefore do so. “Thank you.” In addition, it provided the shelter with the names of the dogs (Simba and Nala), their breeds, a few characteristics and talents that make up their personalities, and the fact that Nala was only approximately 12 weeks old.
The employees of the shelter hurriedly brought the dogs inside, and then they addressed the previous owner in a message that they published on the official Facebook page of the shelter.
The message stated, “To the person who left two dogs outside our facility this morning: First off, thank you for leaving them in a spot where we would be sure to see them right away, thank you for securing them in kennels, and thank you for the note,” the post added. “We are sure that it must have been a difficult and heartbreaking decision to leave such adorable dogs, and we are equally sure that you must be struggling right now to come to terms with the fact that this was your only option.”
The next part of the article requests that the owner get in touch with the rescue organization to share further details on Simba and Nala. “No judgment and no criticism, we promise,” the message said.
Additionally, the shelter requested that people be polite to one another in the Facebook comments, saying, “We do not know this person’s story or what is going on in their life, and we are not here to pass judgment about their difficult decision.”
The employees at the animal shelter have not received any communication from the dog’s prior owner in the days since Simba and Nala turned up at the facility.
“There has been a huge community response that has been largely positive but no contact from the person,” a spokesman from the Forsyth County Animal Shelter told The Dodo. “There has been a huge community response that has been largely positive.” “We are still holding out hope that maybe they will reach out to us, but in the meantime, the dogs are comfortable and well taken care of.”
Simba and Nala are still regarded to be in the stray hold status due to the fact that their owner has not yet come forward. This indicates that they will not be able to be adopted for a certain amount of time or until someone steps forward to adopt them.
The comments part of the Facebook post has been largely supportive and sensitive, just as the shelter urged the community to do. One person’s reply was something along the lines of, “I applaud the responsible people who left the pups.” They cared about them enough to act in their best interests… I really, really want to give them a hug. Although we do not know their backstory, we do know that they made an effort to do the right thing and make sure the puppies were safe and well taken care of.
Reps from the Forsyth County Animal Shelter invite anybody who may have any information on the person who abandoned Nala and Simba at the shelter to ask them to get in touch with the individual.
