The Philippines are the origin of this heartwarming story of a courageous dog that was looking for his home and what he found instead of it.
According to The Sun, a little dog rushed beside the road and barked at Junrell Fuentes Revilla’s motorbike as he traveled through the Sibonga hamlet in Cebu during the end of December. The incident took place in the town of Sibonga. The dog did not stop moving forward.
Revilla couldn’t understand why the dog was behaving in such a weird manner, so he doubled back and started following the canine. As the dog went to the top of the mound, there was a little kid nearby who was laying on some grass close to a pile of rubbish at a dumpsite. The youngster was covered in a brown blanket. The infant still had their umbilical chord connected when they were born, as reported by The Sun. Revilla did the responsible thing by taking the youngster to the hospital straight away and then reporting the incident to the authorities.
Thankfully, the courageous dog was able to identify the appropriate person to help very fast. According to The Sun, a comprehensive checkup revealed that the child was in good health, and as a result, the child’s welfare was committed to the care of social services.
Nonetheless, the situation for the dog remained dire. He had been wandering about the landfill with a pack of strays for some time. On one of their feeding trips, the Cebu-based animal rescue organizations PAWssion Project and Hope for Strays went in search of him. Along the way, they came across Kuya Lyndon Olingay, who is now caring for him as his pet dad.
In spite of their limited means, Olingay and his family are responsible for the well-being of ten dogs, including Blacky, who goes by this name. Olingay estimates that Blacky is one year and eighteen months old. Thus, in order to pay tribute to the person whose life Blacky ended up saving and to raise funds for the Olingays, the two groups that helped save Blacky’s life published his courage in the local news. In a post on Instagram, Passion Project urged people to “make this courageous dog the hero of his family right this second.”
By the end of December, contributions were coming in left and right. Hope for Strays and the PAWssion Project provided Olingay’s human and canine families with food, supplies, and medical treatment valued at thousands of dollars. The valiant dog, who acted on his moral beliefs, has been rewarded with a happy ending that is befitting of his actions.
